Default Need to make decision today

To be brief, found my car, just under 10k miles, no over-revs, due for 4yr service, deposit down. I have 2 options
1) buy car from selling dealer, have him take to local pcar dealer for PPI, 4yr service, ship directly to me
2) have local dealer buy car, take care of transpo to their store, do 4yr service, CPO for extra $2500, buy from them, go pick up

What do you guys like? CPO or no?

Congrats! What's the total price difference between the 2 options? If it's only an additional $2500, the CPO is worth a peace of mind for 2 years.

Only other difference will prob be the doc fee since the dealer with the car agreed to waive it and I will have to pay my local guy. Prob another $600-$800

CPO is 2500 (give or take) PLUS any required services. That can add up QUICK.

Yeah, I'm assuming the 4yr service is going to run around 2k so an additional 5ish with the CPO fee. But I get a car ready to go. I think I'd sleep ok without the CPO, but 2500 is pretty cheap insurance all things considered

How do you get the dealer buy the car locally? Never heard of this before. Also is the purchase pending the PPI or did you have to fully commit to buying before the PPI?

Would you mind sharing or PMing the cost of the GT3? I am also looking and would like more data for myself.

I've had a dealer do it for me, it all depends on your relationship with the dealership.

You may not lose sleep over not getting CPO but if anything goes south, then you most likely will lose sleep The problem is if something breaks down then it's going to be expensive to repair, and we're talking about a car you have not much information on. Just replacing the RMS can cost about $2k.

Personally, I would have done it for sure if I were in your shoes.

Having recently bought a GT3 without PPI much less a CPO that I thought was completely good to go but turned out to have a few problems that needed taking care of, yeah, it can add up. PPI is gonna be good to have done, CPO is going to be great to have.

I guess it depends on how much you trust your dealer and how your relationship is with them but if I were in your shoes and had a good dealer, I'd go that route. My bill post-purchase in the first month has been north of the 2.5k you will spend on your CPO, I'd consider that some really cheap insurance for this car.

I know the dealer so he's doing me a favor. I'll send you a PM as soon as I get this thing 100% done.

Do the CPO. Just do it. Anything they find will need fixing anyway (good to know) and CPO warranty is worth far more than $2500. Plus if you decide to sell that will add value.

If I were you I would try to get them to do the CPO inspection prior to purchasing from the dealer so if any major work is needed they can negotiate further on price. May be a no-go with selling dealer but worth a shot.

in the 20K miles I drove our prior 997S, bought used with a CPO, had a $500 warranty replacement of something called the main Buss, an electrical component, and then all four tire pressure sensors replaced, for almost $1K. I don't know what the CPO cost, as it wasn't listed separately, but if I had paid $2500 for it, it was 2/3 paid off with two warranty repairs.

Nothing is cheap to fix on Porsche's.

All the best....
