Default Best Way to Launch a 997 GT3 ???

Gentleman -

Just curious, but "if" I had a white 997.1 GT3 that I bought from Jakes Motorcars last fall and I wanted to see how quick it would go from 0-60 mph or 0-100 for example, what's the best way to do it? Of course, closed road, etc...

Thanks,

MDS

A GT3 is not a drag car. Why abuse your clutch and drivetrain to find out a number that is easily obtainable via a Google search? Lots of road test data available there.

Put your coffee in the cup holder because this if going to be fast. Fasten your yellow colored (matching PCCBs) seatbelt. Move the lever to auto and press sport plus...

Oh crap, wrong forum.......

I am not an experience drag racer, but did run my Superformance Cobra about 100+ times on the drag strip. Not easy to launch without time-wasting tire spin and smoke. Best was 12.0 at 118 mph. Street tires.

But like others above i just won't risk any damage or excessive wear on our GT3 with such shennanigans. The magazine times posted for 0-60 and quarter mile and top speed for my cars over the years are fine for me. I have seen too many cars blow up or shear a drive shaft on the 'strip to want to do it again.

Like above posters state, rev to red-line, side-step off the clutch, write check for big $'s.

and don't stage against any 5.0 Mustangs either.

All the best...

Best method:

Drive GT3 to Dodge dealer
Purchase Hellcat
Mash gas pedal
Rinse, lather, repeat
Simple!

OP if straight line speed is your concern then you bought the wrong car.
To me drag racing is like PREMATURE EJACULATION ... all that anticipation and it's over in a few seconds.
Granted I've done some premature ejaculation. My E60 M5 BMW has the national record on all motor 1/4 mile with a trap speed of 123.234 mph.
With NOS 150 shot the E60 M5 ran a 10.56 sec ET and 130 mph trap.
Frankly ... who gives a $h!t ... it's a 4,100 lbs brick that could go fast.
Presently that M5 to me is a fast grocery getter.

btw Tom the M5 is for sale, $35K and it's gone.
