Numeric shifter bearing failure - FYI

Just came across this thread...I recently had the Numeric bearing failure as well. I use CUP cables. Although I don't really know how long ago the bearings failed, I had my car in the shop a few weeks back and the Tech noticed something didn't feel right...I guess I just got use to it being broken... Once fixed, I did notice things felt stiffer/more positive in regards to the shift feel.

The throws on the 6 cup shifter box is longer than 7.1 ie same throws as stock mk2 6gt3 shifter box. You may or may not like it or just get use to it. You could use the stock 7.1 or 7.2 box but you need to add some extra parts to make it work ie where cable is linked to box if you want to keep the same throws. Mike

I have had both the generation 1 and generation 2 Numeric shifters
The Gen 1 had only 2 bearings supporting the main shaft - these collapsed rather quickly and Numeric jumped to supply a Gen 2 fitment what has 4 bearings in the main shaft support.
This is going very well, something I would suggest people check on the Numeric is to ensure the Brass Pin that is secured to the main cradle with a set screw is tight and has some threadlocker on it.
Mine came loose, symptoms were difficult/missed shifts that weren't easy to explain, upon lifting the shifter boot off I noticed some slop in the mechanism. A little threadlocker and this is now a non-issue.
