gas pump cuts off before tank is full
Did a quick search and didn't see any reference to the problem I am having but if I missed a thread, feel free to redirect me.
Every time I fill up the OEM fuel tank (on a 2008 GT3RS) the gas pump cuts off at ~ 5/6 of full. When I re-engage the pump by latching the pump handle it continues to fill the remaining 2 - 3 gallons. I tried different gas stations to eliminate the possibility of a faulty pump.
A nuisance IMHO. Anybody else have this problem?
Thanks in advance

I have the same problem, it's annoying as hell as I have to baby the nozzle to get the tank full.

This is a common problem. The fuel filler hose needs to be replaced. There is a faulty air pressure relief valve which is supposed to open while taking on fuel. By not venting the tank, it make the sensor on the gas pump read a higher pressure (as if the tank is full) and prematurely stops the flow of fuel.
There was a recall (I believe) back in 2008 or so for this. My 2007 had the fuel filler hose replaced under warranty. Easy job. Just requires the inner wheel lining to be removed from the right front fender. Never had an issue since.

Thanks for the replies Gentlemen. Given that it is related to the fuel and evaporation system I will see whether the repair is covered under the 8-yr/80K Federal Emissions Design and Defect warranty.

Report back if it is. I've always just flipped the nozzle upside down when filling and haven't had any issues

Common on all 987/997 models, and although I've never actually filled up my own Porsches (Not because I didn't want to!), the solution is to rotate the nozzle either 90 or 180 degrees.

no such problems so far on my "new to us" '07, but then on all my cars, being in Upstate SC, I always stand by the car with my hand on the pump handle, just in case......
By the way, finding my mpg mostly town, some interstate, keeping rev's 2500 and up, using the throttle, getting 15-18 mpg. No problem with that, just informational. On our race built Cobra replica by Superformance, lucky to get 10 mpg. Aerodynamics of a cinder block. On a track, lucky to get two laps per gallon of 9$ a gallon race gas.
All the best....

9pm on the hose and all is good. Can't fill up the regular way. Never could.

You might be able to search some old post, back in 2010 or 2011, that addressed this issue. You can go to the stealers parts department and ask for the inner ring that installs to the top of the fill tube, just under the fill cap. It allows a small gap between the fill tube and nozzle seal.
It helped the situation for me although not 100% but it definitely happens less often.
