same car, new owner
My path to owning a GT3 started back in the spring of '66. After learning to drive my dad's '59 Anglia, which I proceeded to roll onto it's roof in my HS parking lot in a bit of boyish exuberance, I bought with my lawn mowing money a pretty white '63 TR4, when I was a Frosh at Nebraska. Drove it 44K miles in the 11 mos I owned it, only one engine re-build in that time. Then into a '65 MGB, in which my first wife and I and our infant son were nearly killed, when she fell asleep on I80 near dawn in Iowa, she driving, me asleep, when she ran off the road, the 'B doing a 360 in the air, tearing off the top, and landing back on it's wheels in the mud beside the road. Just replaced the top. Then as a newly minted 2nd Lt on my way to Germany in '69, into a Dodge Charger R/T, with the 44o ci motor.
Later thru a much modified VW Squareback, with 914 wheels, then into a brace of TR8's, the second one with lots of Huffaker Racing parts, but being true to it's English heritage, burned due to a fuel leak. Passed on a '66 GT350, but in few years had a (as always, much modified) first gen Mitsu AWD turbo. In '2000, convinced my wife my life was incomplete since I had never had a 427 Shelby Cobra, so got a replica by Superformance, which naturally endured all sorts of track and speed upgrades. My son and I drove that car over 140K miles, with thousands of track miles at VIR, HPT, Kershaw here in SC, and Charlotte.
about a decade ago, my son dropped into a nice first gen Boxster, and I found it a really delightful, nimble, responsive car. He then swapped that for a 996 Carrera roadster, and convinced me to move from my ordeal of using a Cobra for a daily driver, into an '07 997S about three years ago. My own first Porsche really opened my eyes to how a finely made sports car could be both a superlative back-roads car, and a comfortable GT. Drove it about 25 K miles. Just a perfect, fast, reliable car. Loved it.
Several months ago, he and I were at the Eurofest at the BMW plant near us in Spartenberg, where Porsche was the featured marque, and got to thinking as he and I walked among the GT3 cars, that perhaps we could upgrade to a GT3. So I talked with my son and daughter about a plan, as they had worked for a year to wear down my wife's resistance so I could get my Cobra. Son Chris, who drives a Lotus Elise, perused this forum, and found an '07 GT3, which we drove 400 miles home a week ago.
My first GT3 is white, with 25K miles, with PCCB's, GT2 seats, and a really nicely done "cup" wing, and full Sharkworks exhaust. PPI was fine. Just put Supersports on it today.
This Porsche is exceedingly different that my S Carrera. The seats are amazingly comfortable, and not too difficult to climb in an out of, coming from a Cobra. Very responsive steering, suspension is very "connected" to the road surface. Much more power down low in the RPM range than my 997. Must have a really lightweight flywheel, as blips to double-clutch or heel & toe have near instantaneous response.
But the most impressive thing about this car is the exhaust. It crackles, pops, & hisses on the over-run, and at full chat and high rpm, the sound is a violent shriek. Simply intoxicating!
What a great car!

From C2S to GT3, I couldn't agree more!
Sounds as if you've got more goodies (esp seats), but a nice upgrade nonetheless.
It also sounds as if you've been blessed in a number of ways - enjoy.

Cool story. I had a 2009 911 for 18mo. First porsche. Was chasing a gt3 in canyons. That noise. I had to have one. Such a different car. Only shares the shape really.

Thanks for sharing your car journey and congrats on your first GT 3. I am told that the white ones are the quickest. Enjoy the car!

Here's the thread that details the previous owners install of the wing - https://rennlist.com/forums/997-gt2-...y-cup-esq.html
The wheels are BBS LMR's. Plasti dipped in gold at the moment, which looks nice. It really is a gorgeous car...
One more pic (credit goes to the previous owner) just for fun. Looking forward to our next road trip!
