Went from Pilot Sport Cups to SS's. IMHO, compared to Cups, not impressed with SS. The only positive I have encountered is longer wear. I'm in So Cali, so no wet conditions. This may be a detriment for most here. I didn't mind the harsher ride nor the noise. Am I the only one that likes the Cups over the SS?

On my .1rs for street use went with 235/305 on oem wheels. Fits and looks fine.

They are good street tires and probably good for rain at track. I've never tracked mine.

I have the RE-11's, great street tire & not bad on the track.
Try the new pilot sport cup 2's....getting good reviews.

I've used super sports on a couple of cars now. Drove my 997.2S in the rain at the Glen and they were great. Don't expect R level grip but they aren't bad.

I just put a couple of new rear Sport Cups on my RS as I recently got a nail in one of them.

As my life (and let's face it, my enjoyment level) depend upon it, I want the ultimate level of grip when I drive like a maniac. I have no experience with the SS, but I would imagine it's difficult to give up the level of confidence the Sport Cups inspire when I drive. In my opinion, comfort and wear are not an issue when you're driving an RS; it's already a pig to drive on the street, and it's not exactly a grocery getter either, so treat it to what it deserves; the best tyre for the car.

My (probably worthless) 2 cents.

Vivian.

Check out Yokohama AD08R. I use these for my street tires and have been extremely impressed. Took them to a AutoX and won that on them too.

Too bad they don't make a 325 rear.

Ss's stuck like glue on my old 3.1. I now have an rs4.0 with cups. What I like about the cups is that they dont "break" when they begin to drift; it's gradual in and out of the drift. They keep their composure with lateral movement. The 3.1+super sports tended to break/slide and then grab hard again. Not sure how much of this is different car vs tire? If it is more car than tire , I'd go with ss's on my next set. I don't track it but I also don't ever drive it in the rain. Probably stay with cups.

I run Sport Pilots on a spare set for the track.... For loading on the trailer, occasional drive to liquor barn I have Falken Ziex. I did go around the track a couple of times on the Falkens and they were better than I expected... But they are not Pilots...

My only point is, if you really are just going to drive to the grocery store you can get a good quality tire and save your money for a good Track/ Wheels Only tire. IMO... The true awesome track tires won't give you a lot of value driving to the 7 eleven...

I have run both PSS and RE11 on my .1 GT3RS and they are excellent tires for street use. I like RE11 better on track, but PSS was really good in the pouring rain at that time I tracked it at Thunderhill, it was very stable.

I was just at TH on Monday with worn NTs (great for dry) and mentored a 2010 RS on fresh RE-11 tires. The difference was incredible with the off/on sprinkles. I was sliding ALL over the place where as the RS was secure/planted/fast. The driver was quite good as well!

I almost out put in my PSS but the track dried so stuck with the NTs. Would have been good to get a comparison for me.

You aren't the only one. I'm not a mpss fan for track. No better than primacy hp Prius tires. Fine for street.
