Default Finally - no longer a second class citizen - GT3 for me...

I traded in my heavily mod'd 2011 Cayman S today and got a sweet deal on a Speed Yellow 2008 997.1 GT3. 34,000 miles, single owner car and in impeccable shape.

I'd done everything you could do to a Cayman short of bolting on a TPC turbo, but I just didn't want to stray from normally aspirated...so here I am

Really happy thrilled with the car and now I'll make the Alex and the Sharkwerks boys happy all over again -- the Cayman had all the goodies and now I'll get to relive the upgrade experience all over again

3.8L would have been a great way to upgrade the cayman, but welcome to the club!! It really is a great club to be in.
Possibly the best 911 ever.

Congrats on your purchase. I sold a 2007 CS to get .1 silver GT3 (purchased in LA) last fall. Best car I have ever driven. I am jealous of you west coasters who have access to Sharkwerks. Is there an equivalent shop on east coast? Please forgive the hijack and thank you.

Mooty, thank you. I knew you would know. I'm in Richmond, VA. I'm doing a few fun upgrades now (DSC and I hope it works), TPC bars (worked great on Cayman). If I want more than plug and play, I need to go where they know what they are doing. FLA and GA are not too far to give my car TLC. CA is a hike for car upgrades. Thanks, Mike

@Beaker, sweet enjoy it! I got a 997.1 in Feb 13 with 13k, it now has 31k... I love every minute behind the wheel. The only mod thus far is a Sharkwerks bypass. :-)

@monk46 check out Lufteknic in Richmond, I drive from NYC to get work done there.

@monk46, I have heard good things about Lufteknic as well. And there are a few great shops in NoVA too. My preference is TPC if you can get to them. They are not much further (depending on time of day/traffic) than NoVa.

blacksquirrel - I believe we met at Cars & Coffee a few weeks ago, if yours is the white one with NY tags. I have had the impression Luftenik specializes in 356, so stand corrected. Can't be an expert in everything. I know you are biased because they are your friends

KJinDC - I saw a lot of turbo promotion by TCP, which I do not want, but have successfully used some of their suspension bits. Followed them quite a bit when I had the CS and just received their DSC for the .1.

Thank you all for your responses. I guess I want whoever comes closest to Sharkwerks when it comes to GT3 expertise, and particularly regards the motor. I have pinning and/or welding on my mind next. Later maybe the 3.9 motor if I don't get 997.2 first? But I don't wish to experiment with my favorite car of all time (and that's a lot of years and cars). I would almost certainly be Sharkwerks customer if I were on left coast just based on their experience and commitment to the GT3.

Hey monk46, Yes that was me!

I friends with them, but they cover a wide range of expertise. They have race team/prep experience on GT3's (ALMS and prior), as well as doing full restoration old school type work. (There are multiple generations in the shop, literally, haha). Coolant pipe fix is on my list for next spring.

Congrats on the upgrade! We have a few well built Caymans on the race team and they are particularly fun to run with especially though twisties- very well mannered. Respect the 3 as it will pitch you from time to time!
