Default RS drive identical to GT3

So I finally got around to driving an RS. Local AD had a 2011 PTS Orange .2RS and I'm seriously considering trading the GT3 in on it as I don't use the GT3 as daily as I thought I would.

I test drove the car this morning and I have to say that outside of a discernible increase in shove and the rattling flywheel the two cars drive identically. Seemed to have the same level of interior noise and ride quality. Naturally brake and steering feel are identical. I can't say I'm surprised but I thought it might be a bit more hard core but it wasn't.

I'm 6'5" and 234lbs and the sport buckets were great though I'll need them a bit lower.

Why would I switch then...I'm looking for more visual drama. They'll paint the wheels, wing ends, mirrors and lipstick black and I'd remove the graphics...

Unless u took the test drive on a track they pretty much not much different in the street. Care to elaborate on service hx? Unless its frame damaged or flood damaged- I wouldn't worry about nething about car if it has been mechanically repaired/replaced. Mike

From what I have heard the motor went KABOOM on this one, that's why it's not CPOed.

The red on orange is not working, convert to white-gold.

I don't think the motor was replaced but fixed.
I don't have the full story, just pieces of it, but just wanted to let the OP know so he can look further into it if need be.

I'm sure the OP knows as the dealer where the car is has a good reputation generally.

He can tell us hopefully.

Yes, car had motor replaced. Apparently crate motor. They say it likely will be CPO'd...it's a process with Porsche Canada in this case. Will know early next week. There's no way I'm trading a clean no over rev CPO GT3 for a car with history and no CPO.

Naturally price needs to be right too.

Rest of car is impeccable and underside is clean...doesn't look like a track car. Maybe just a bad driver. Missed shift and spun the crank?

Not a lot of these to choose from up here and I like the orange. Still kicking myself for missing the Riviera one a few months ago...

All that said I'm also thinking of keeping the GT3 and getting a used Continental GT for winter...or maybe an RS5...or S5...I have serious issues...LOL...

Or I might just put snows on the GT3 and say **** it!

PTS 997.2RS is worth trading your non RS for. Of course they both drive the same, but a RS is a RS. A keeper for the long haul. It looks and feels more like a hot rod 911.

Orange looks great with silver or black wheels. The red is interesting but just nasty at the same time.
Id have the dealer do decal delete and paint the wheels orange. Trust me on this.

Fresh engine from Porsche is nice, especially if they CPO it.
I would take it without CPO if price reflected as such.

Such a rare and beautiful color, especially for canada. I wouldnt be able to pass up the opportunity.

That would be one good looking car if you went from red to black as you suggest. Although I remember tcsracing1 posting up some pics of orange wheels on his orange RS and it looked pretty good.
