GT3 Backed Into Today

yup, if you need a consult on diminished value claims, our BMWCCA tech rep owns a body shop and is a HUGE watchdog for this and crappy collision and paint work. Let me know if you want his contact info. Haury's Collision, Jeff Butler is his name.

Lol, I think someone wants to fix this car and keep it for them self.

It's a beautiful car and the damage is an easy fix. as stated by others, fix, collect diminished value (which should be a decent chip right now since the 997.2 GT3's are enjoying a high resale value right now) and then enjoy your car as you have all along. The toughest part is having to wait for it to get out of the shop while it's still summer and good driving weather since you're in an area that it's a fairly short driving season. Best of luck!

I hate when this stuff happens... Your pain is felt.
If it was something of a complex repair and/or structural damage... Something that would keep you wondering if everything was fixed 'right' then you sell for peace of mind.
From the picture, it would appear to be a crease that needs to be pulled and a fresh re spray. If that's the extent, keep it.
In the meantime it's worth collecting price and mileage details on cars sold in order to support diminished value. My past experience is that these claims are tricky...

putting 2 and 2 together after seeing the wheels in this photo...your car was at the Arthritis foundation show in Columbus a couple weeks ago correct? Stunning example.
Not to be the negative one of the bunch, but rear quarters on 911's are NOT easy to repair properly because you have to paint quite a bit of the car to not be left with a visible (if you know what you're looking for) blend line somewhere on the car. You'd have to pull the quarter window, paint the full A through C pillars along with in the door jam all the way up to under the door seals and the full rocker as well. Without painting ALL of that you will see paint / blend lines when the work is done.

All cars eventually get a bump or bruise if they see the street
Sorry it happened - good repair will make that tough to identify - make sure they pull out window seals and blend all the way up through the panel

OMG. I am so sorry Alan. I hope the repair turns out as good as can be.

Track car!
Heading out to a couple of good shops in the Cincinnati area. I have followed the pricing of '10' GT3's over the last couple of months. I'll see what the dealers say about what they would offer pre/post with the damage repaired.
I have had an offer. Thankfully I hadn't opened the second bottle of wine last night before I read it. I might have done something stupid.
My insurance agent, Erich Diehl, told me that I could go ahead and start the ball rolling if I wanted by having my company subrogate the claim against the other person or wait to hear from the other company. I think I'll wait a couple of days.
I will be looking for diminished value on the car. A local member in OVR successfully won a case in the last 12 months. He used another member to litigate.
Thanks for the comments.

Pick the best body shop in Cinci (whoever does work for Ferrari and Lambo owners locally is who I would pick); they will know who the best DV advocate is.

I think the only issue is when it comes time to sell it. If you get stamps for diminished value, then you are once again whole.
You get the car fixed, it's undetectable to anyone and you enjoy it as much as you ever did. When it comes time to sell it, you try to get every penny and if you don't, you have the diminished value cash already in hand. It's no loss.

I like to repeat this (often to myself): how many times on this board do you hear stories of people selling their GT3's only to come back and buy another one? Can't think of any other board with almost 100% rate of recidivism. Don't make that mistake

guys, its just some paint.
yes i felt in agony when my previous 911 was struck, do you even realize how many 911's have paintwork nowadays.
get it over to the bodyshop, pick it up in a week and you will forget the work was even done
