Is it weird that I like how the film makes it appear less "real"?

I know what you mean. Thats one of the appeals film has for me.
Also with only 36 shots a roll it makes you really think before taking a photo.
Limits my regular road trips to more memorable captured moments.

Beautiful shot. Damn I miss autumn in the mountains. Houston just doesn't cut it sometimes...

Couldn't resist posting as I saw this as I was doing a Costco run with family this morning. Intersection of park and tollway in Plano Tx.

I’m jealous. I won’t have made it to NJMP this entire season. I made one of their last events last fall and haven’t been back since.

Schattenbaum has two days left Nov 6/7 on Lighting. I’ll be there 11/6. That’s the end of my very short track season this year.

I wish I could make it. This is the first track season I have missed entirely for quite a while. I’m hoping I get some time (and a reasonable car) towards 2nd half of next season. Although I definitely plan to beg/borrow/steal some track time with friends down south this winter that don’t have to contend with this white crap we have up north.

@ljmartyre
It's obvious which one is a better picture, but you didn't say which picture is which. Phone or film. And which phone or camera

I'm curious what professionals say about how digital is now. My Samsung Galaxy S21 supersize or whatever they call its camera is crazy good.

The first photo is an iPhone 11 Pro
Second is shot with a Ricoh GR1 using Kodak Portra 400.
Its a simple point and shoot but really high quality lens.

I have a fuji digital camera that I use if I want to take photos, generally to me iPhone photos fall kind of flat by comparison. Personal preference though! I shoot film as a side hobby so I’m bias.

Some other comparisons.
(film - phone - film - phone)

To me the phone pics look more realistic and capture the colors better. You can actually see it in the sky and the reflection of light in the car paint. There is better definition. Not sure if that makes sense
