This is what I did and I happened to find exactly what I wanted pretty quickly. Paid $15k over my "budget" but probably $20k under what I could sell for today. I bought to keep forever and not for collectibility, but I feel pretty good about the long term value of these cars in the event life one day ****s in my fan and I have to sell.

I have access to an '11 GT3 RS with 20,277 being sold by Porsche Cars NA on may 22. It's a manufacturer buyback. Equipped with PCCB and axle lifting system amongst other goodies (154,905 MSRP). Aqua Blue Metallic. Was put on the road may 25th, 2010.

The StealerShips know they have you by the ***** at the moment so they will take every advantage of that. Hell, they're in business to make money, money not friends nor to build relationships. That is the bottom line.

Does nobody remember the last frenzy of RS prices in 2007-2008? Artificial demand was fueled by speculation that it would be the last RS for another 30 years, coinciding with the bubble that was our economy. Cars were trading in the $185-200k range, which is well over $200k today. Then they dropped to $100k.
If you really think Porsche and other manufacturers will forever abandon the 'drivers car' market, and that our economy will continue to grow at its current pace, then absolutely grab a 997 GT3 while they are still 'cheap'...

I bought an '11 RS two weeks ago. I could have bought cheaper 8 months ago when I first started looking. I don't think they'll be any cheaper 8 months from now. Unless the 991RS comes with MT prices are going to hold or slowly increase from here on. If you lust for the the car, buy it and enjoy it. As we say in Ireland: "You're a long time dead".
