Default Please tell me I am not nuts...

We own several Porsches...GT3RS, 89 Speedster and a 67S. All pedigreed perfect cars. All dream cars that we are very lucky to own. (Heck, they are appreciating in value! Our 67S is worth close to $300k now...)

We have a long history of blowing or green backs on Euro cars. having owned 2 Lambos, 3 Ferraris and other interesting cars.

Now I find myself wanting a c7 Z06.

Even the snobby UK car love the non-Z06 c7. The Z06 is in a totally different league vs the base Stingray.

An all option (CF Brakes etc) Z07 package Z06 will be $100k or less. Hit up Google to read what the z07 z06 includes. Its kind-a nutty what an epic car this is. Full stop.

NOW, enter the price. It almost doesn't make sense why the European cars (that I adore) are so much more expensive. A 991 GT3 (non RS) would be at least $50k more than the Z06...and 991 GT3 RS would be (best guess) $100k over the z06.

At some point a reasonable car nerd has to stop and ask himself WTF!?

Am I alone?

the new Zo6's definitely something very special and at a great price point. You're not nuts, well maybe you are, I don't know you. But you're not nuts for wanting a Zo6. BTW, it's amazing what the '67 S' are worth now! Congrats, any pix of it?

There was a time when I gained pleasure from owning and driving Corvettes. Do what you gotta do.

Porsche makes $$$$ in profit for every car sold, GM makes $. Fit and finish of the Pcar is far superior. To me... no, it's not that nuts.

Nope, thinking also about the C7 Z06 awesome package but going to hold out at least a year to see if there are any problems with them.

Not Crazy at all, Porsche took notice of the Vettes and extended the warrenty for track use on the new GT cars, however pricing did make many of my buddies choose Corvette over Porsche for track use. the new Z06 will be a monster, Finally an american made sports car that gives the Europeans a run for the money

Went to the museum last weekend and they had C7s in all colors sitting in the lobby. Fell in love with a white car with black roof and wheels. Other than its taillights, its been a long time since I've fell in love with a new car's styling.

Well, I did it. $2k to hold a MSRP spot...late Spring 15. IF the vert has any sort of pop up roll bar system (track friendly) we will switch to a convertible.

All Vette and American car negative bias aside...GM has REALLY gotten their acts together. Not just for the z06 but their other offerings as well. IF the new z06 is the car is appears to be Porsche is going to have to rethink their offerings and price points.

The Z06 package is impressive to say the least. However, in the past they have not held up well to track abuse. We will see how well the new one holds up. Also, I'm not sure what to think of the move to a removable top and the convertible Z06. Neither makes sense to me for a track car. Vettes are tough to beat for the price on a street car.

What nuts is the 997 GT3RS market right now. $120K asking for .1RS? 3 years ago I buy mine for mid-80's, and now they are $110-$120K?

I really want a white .1RS for my "street" car, but these crazy prices have me thinking a used Cayman-R instead, at half the price.

I'll be seeing tons of Vette's soon, with the new Motorsports park opening up at the Corvette Museum......but I still can't get on board, the looks just don't do it for me, but the performance is unquestionable.

You should buy my white R so that I can overpay for a GT3!

I 100% hear-ya on the RS prices. Our 2010 GT3RS is worth significantly more than we paid for it. Our 89 Speedster is worth TWICE as much as we paid...and the 67S...you don't even want to know.

Of course all Porsche 911 prices (GT cars, pre-991) are increasing in value (cost). I am surprised the 996GT3s aren't taking off. Owned one of those on 04. Sweet car...miss it.

The Z06 will be a track beast for me. We have 3 local tracks that are calling me. I hate to say it but the Porsches are becoming too valuable to track. If I were to damage the RS on the track I wouldn't forgive myself. The z06....well, its a Vette

Z06 will be a conversation about how much depreciation and how fast. AND the stupid fun the car will be.

Its easy to scale this conversation to other expensive cars. The Vette does put into question the prices currently being asked for Ferraris, Lambos etc. I remember the day when owning an exotic was a depreciation free experience. Not now.

Anyway, I am excited.
