How about a 400 hp engine in a 6 speed 2900 lb Cayman for 88k.
Start out with base Cayman stripper with the X73 suspension 54k, some light weight race seats 2k and 991S engine and brake/rotor BGB conversion 32k.

Let us hope that BMW didn't build the new M3/M4 with brakes that can't cope with 4 hard laps (looks squarely at E92).

This is true. But finding CPO 997.1 is almost non existant given their age.
So we ignore the warranty desires of the thread in favour of suggesting something different for Peter.

M235i for wife is nice choice; make sure to get the M-performance diff installed (port or dealer option). You will be impressed.

M2 will be the track attack weapon. Can't wait to drive it.
According to BMW website the M3 and M235I weigh both 3500lbs?
So how much lighter can an M2 be? Its going to be the same weight, engine and HP as a M3? Just cheaper and less features and options?

BGB is testing one Wednesday night at PBIR, unfortunately I'm out of town

The brakes are what worry me most in all cars over 3200lbs...

I had multiple C5 Z06's amazing cars and bullet proof. Easy to get serviced, and or work on yourself if you so choose-----I autocrossed an 2004 for 7 years all over the country GREAT CAR.

Had a 10' GT3 and cam position sensor nonsense drove me crazy until finally fixed, that and the warranty replacement of first 3 brake rotors, and then another time one more.....some of the noises the car made when it was wrong were hardish to diagnose---this drove me NUTS. Although the car drove and handled like the business.

I am thinking of very soon pulling the trigger on a Z28......not to daily, but hopefully the ride is slightly softer than a GT3, and noise is hopefully less---but I might be wrong on both counts.
Want a warranty, and safety-----also tooling around town in my GT3 made me feel like---HEY LOOK AT ME ! A white or black Z28 would let me blend in with the crowd....not such a bad thing. I also like a car that I very well might not touch anything straight from the factory

New Z06 will be awesome.....but I wonder if it's too fast ? (sounds crazy right)

BTW Trackcar---new Z28 is around 3850 lb without driver.....gotta love those massive front tires.
I am just scared of that front spoiler and speed bumps.

Pete
I wasn't crazy about the 6GT3 looks either a few years ago but it's starting to really appeal to me in the past year or so.
First DE day of Y14 is May 1 with new to me 6Gt3 ;-))

International website shows M235i 145lbs lighter than M3 so assume that's your expected delta. Don't know what's going on with M3 vs 335i weight numbers.

Actually delta looks more like 90lbs. I was erroneously comparing 2 door to 4 door.
