Manual options.

Manual options.
In a new GT3 PDK only world, what are the options?
Just thinking out loud here.
Assuming warranty is a must:
997GT3 CPO about 80K if you can find one..
But if you want a GT3, than you will want an RS.. CPO .1 is about $110K .2 RS another 20-40K
CPO C2S 991 7spd manual about $80K. No dry sump, needs brakes? Suspension? Or OK?
Will continue to drop fast.
Cayman GTS $80K only 345HP, no dry sump. Nice and light though.
Will drop fast in next years.
New Corvette $60K but needs brake upgrade about $5k
Ugly *** but seems to have the right stuff on board.
New Camaro $75K
Awesome but I got to see how that 4100lbs is going to work out with me in it.
New M4 $70K arriving soon, track worthy? 3400lbs?
New M2 $60k arriving in 12 months, should be lighter than M4 3200lbs?
C class AMG's too heavy, GTR too heavy, Lotus, iffy quality and I don't fit.
Out of warranty, older Porsches and BMW's seem to be the easiest to make and keep track worthy..
Older Corvettes perhaps?
What else could one look at until GT3 prices normalize, if that ever happens?

no BMW is trk worthy. immediately u need triple the cooling capacity, brakes
older corvette, forget it
new corvette possibly
z28, if u don't have allocation now, u won't be getting one
cay,an is NOT light. put it one the scale and u be surprised
unless m4 is made do balsa wood, there's no,way in hell it's a 3200 car. I just weighed a 7.1 gt3, 3300 lbs
lotus, u are too tall
basically stick to ur RSA or buy another 7.2 rs
any other choice will get u right back to hr
ere again.

997.2 GTS at around 80K?
991 C2S 7spd? Fast on track with brakes and tires I think. Didn't find it as fun to drive as the 997's though.

997.2 (GT)S are already much cheaper, same problem as 3.8 Caymen 991CS no dry sump although the seem to hold up well.
Viper is another one, 20K off MSRP now with production stopped.

Cheap option...91 NSX with upgraded suspension, brakes, brake cooling, gearbox and supercharger...will make any old P-Car look silly and all for about $35-$40k on the high end.

I wouldn't worry about the 9A1 not having a dry sump. The new Cayman in S, GTS, or BGB form seems like a great package. The 911 50 has grown on me as well; I bet it can keep up with 997GT3s on most tracks. I still like the 997GTS and Cayman R, but would get a 997GT3 before either.
I think BMW is going to get the M4 right. Otherwise the Z28 is going to kick it in the teeth and take its lunch money. M2? I think that is years away, if ever.
I rented a Z06 for a day. It was like a great one night stand - helluva lot of fun at the time, but never again.

991 direct injection motors seem to do well on track without a dry sump. I am leary of the new M's as they are Turbo until they have some track history. The current BMW turbos are not track worthy with lots if limp mode issues. If you want an M I would go for an 2013 M3 but they need brakes and some suspension upgrades.
New C7 is Fugly, IMHO, but does seem to have the right stuff IF you can fit. A C6ZO6 would fit the criteria and probably better than the Z28 which I love for it's no frills roots BUT it is heavy and you might not fit with the low roof.
Now for what you should get. GT Twice and rag the crap out of it.

also, 996GT2 prices are still very reasonable....
tune, seats, alignment, modern tires...
