Default Making GT3 better for DD?

Ok, I probably will be flamed, but what the heck...

I was wondering if anyone's tried to make GT3 more daily friendly? Specially to reduce cabin noise. I know, I know... that's exactly going against anything GT3 stands for, but I am just being curious to see if there's a way to do that with adding a bit more sound proofing, and possibly rear seats (probably not insurable)?

Flame away!!!

Wear ear plugs.

Or turn up stereo.

Set off firecrackers near ears to dull your hearing.

i wore earphones (over the ear) when driving 1/2 around the country. That helped a lot.

I biggest issue for me is the ride height.

Well you could swap tires for something less aggressive and remove some of the tire noise, and perhaps go to a less aggressive spring rate ... but then you are compromising the very heart of the car ... stick with a C2S or GTS perhaps?

My biggest improvement to (unpleasant) sound issues was changing from Pirelli to Michelin.

yeah its amazing how much sound the tires contribute to cabin noise ...

dont ever replace your rubber bushings for anything else if you dont like additional cabin noise ... I put RSS LCAs on the back of my car ... sounds like I am on "wagon wheels" on some surfaces ... giddy up there!

The reason I am asking guys, is to see if I could swap my Carrera to GT3, and still use it daily/track.

The ride isn't actually that bad IMO, specially with PASM, but in a long stretch, the noise could be too much. I believe there's less sound dampening for obvious reasons, can those be added back?

Tire change would help and plan to use MPSS.

it *probably* could, but it would not be straightforward, you would 1st have to check that it was available from dealer ... also some of the deadening (at least used to be) an underbody coating that was (not) applied at the factory ... that
one would be tough...

MPSS will make it a bit less noisy ... not all lot though

Prior to having them do an alignment and corner balance I had Goldcrest raise the ride height 20mm to help preserve the new spoiler lip.

I just bought a set of Bridgestone Pole Position S-04's to replace the current worn Michelin PS2's but I haven't installed them yet. They are on sale at Tire Rack now and should work fine for my street-only usage. I had a set of these on my ex-993 and they were fairly quiet and were compliant on bumpy roads.

Even with the previous setup, I thought that the "ride" was fine considering the GT3's intended usage...these aren't Cadillacs!

I bought a complete set of S04s during that sale and put them on my GT3 a few months ago. I like them and like you had formerly had some on my 993. They aren't Michelins but for $850 for a complete set it was worth it to try them.

I get where the OP is coming from, I think of my GT3 as a daily driver and intentionally chose the GT 3 over the RS because of the noise issue along with other drivability factors, since the car was going to be a road car.

In addition to what others have said, I was able to pick up a leather 997 headliner on ebay (in red, no less), I think the one I have is from Porsche Exclusive. Made a noticeable difference in decreasing cabin noise, maybe acting as both an insulator and sound absorber. I also like the cabin better.

For noise, I have a 993 4S with Dach X Pipe and FD Stage 2 muffler - noise is much, much more raw than the one from the GT 3.

Ich verstehe es nicht, but then again....that's likely my shortcoming. Never could understand why some choose Honda bikes.
