here were my time/money wasted setups before I got to the big rig.
The almost good enough was the F450 with 40' trailer but even 40' not big enough as too much hassle stuffing everything around cars.
Last picture is the Mesante rigs with totter rigs - that is the end-all-be-all.

Contrary to popular belief, you don't need a trailer

If doing any hauling with a light duty SUV, I would have to agree with PJS. Trailex is the only thing you would considering hualing with one. Diesel benz or Diesel Cayenne would be nice too.

I had a crappy 24ft Haulmark and a V10 dually years ago and hated hooking onto it, hated driving with it and hated parking it. So if you go enclosed, buy a good one the first time around.

Dont overlook open if only doing light trailering. You can stash most of your D.E crap in the SUV.
I have been using trailex open trailers for about 2 years and really enjoy how easy it is to hook on to them, drive with them and to stash them away when done with them.
I can lift the trailer with one hand and pull it around my driveway.
My Range Rover can tow it @ 90mph with no trailer brake too. (But I have trailer brake anyway).

Somewhere in Chicago I think. That pic was taken just before I bought it. There is a 20 foot garage in the back with a power liftgate, 20 feet of living space with a full bathroom and shower, and another 9 feet with the cab up front. In the garage I can fit 2 sets of tires and a scooter in front of the car, plus spares and gas cans. All my tools, gas grill, etc. are stored in the compartments below. Even has a separate water tank and hose bib in the rear that I use as a car wash station, useful after 6 hour enduros in the rain and mud!

BTW, that is not my family on the wall, don't want my wife to think I have a second life. lol These are mostly the pre-purchase pics. The previous owner worked for Dupont and used it as a trade-show demo vehicle. (Thus the paint job). I saved it from a life as garage queen and made it a proper working vehicle.

The biggest downside to my rig is I can only carry one car inside and the awning is such a pain to put up that I usually just default to a couple of 10x10 easy ups that I carry in the back. You also have to recognize there are places you can't drive it through or park it, and you can't exactly drive into town from the track if you need something.

Otherwise it is so much nicer than dealing with a trailer hook-up and hotel rooms, assuming you have room to store it.
