It would be kind of funny if rennlist made a Vette form...I'm sure that would raise some eyebrows at Porsche...come on 911 Slow how about a Vette forum...right under the GT3 forum?!?!

In the meanwhile SRT Viper is going for $20K below MSRP and and the Corvette for $4K under MSRP.
Should be great bang for the buck on track for most DE'ers.
The Z06 specs don't look too shabby:

Porsche has had much going for it over the years.
still, a good many of their cars have been a pricey, compromised, overrated, mixed bag, imo.
examples;
944, 968, 911, 996, 997, 928, 968, Boxster, Cayman. and on and on.
they're caught in some kind of technology bubble right now.... and now the cars cost too damn much $$$$.
and out of warranty, the fleet looks very much like a house of cards about to implode.

Pricing?
anyone have any semi accurate data on pricing for the new vette Z06?
I have read 80-85K and other places 95-100k etc....
Thanks....
I think the new vette (z06 only) looks the part and although my last two sports cars have been P cars (a 997 and a 993TT RUF) I have to admit this American build has me quite interested....

A few years ago I went to a Porsche dealer (won't reveal who) and when I asked about price they said Porsche doesn't haggle with buyers. The only thing more obnoxious than the salesman were the people looking at the cars in the showroom. While this is an enthusiasts forum we are the exception. I own 2 Turbos and, with no more manuals in top P-cars, will never buy a Porsche again.
I think other marques (Chevy in particular) have stepped up their game significantly for performance shoppers who will actually use their cars. In the days of automatic-only Porsche GT3's and Turbo's and $100k Caymans my future track machine will most certainly not be a Porsche. The new Z06 and Z28 speak to me in a way the current P-car lineup never will.
Good thing for options.

Agreed. I've got my '86 Turbo for the street and 2001 Turbo for the track. I always wanted a GT3 (or even a GT2) but my kids want to ride in the "fast car" and that's more fun (even at 35mph) than a few seconds at the track (although when I'm at the track....). That's why I may see a Z28 one day. But it's a tough call.
