I am reminded of Jedi Master Yoda's advice to Luke:

Two more weeks for a long weekend (unfortunately Fri-Mon TF) at Nordschleife plus Tuesday at Spa.

Those "Green Hell" long weekends at the ring used to look attractive, but having been to a couple of them, the combination of the volume of traffic and the number of crashes are now I think counterproductive ...

would love to go to Spa again...

I know, IIRC this is the 3rd time on those... At best very entertaining, at worst just frustrating. Best chances for clean laps are first ones in the morning ( but ususally on moist/wet track) or the very last ones in the evening when most of lads from that island have already gone drinking beer...

When we were there in May someone crashed and cut the phone line around the circuit... place was closed for most of the afternoon... its a real zoo over
those weekends now.

24½ half laps on three days, Sunday was closed all day because of fog. No improvement of BTG times, last year's 8:28 is still the best. Friday was OK, as well as Saturday morning and Monday afternoon.
On Tuesday we went to Spa, RSR's track day. First time there, without coaching 3:08. 225 & 285/18 street tires, which was a wrong choice. It was so dry (or at least not so wet) that MPSCs would have worked.

So Jealous. I've been to the ring twice. Another tip for those considering the trip but trying to stay on budget is to rent the Rent4Ring VW Sciroccos. They are pretty darn quick. I don't think I had anyone come by me short of the GT2 they use for hot laps. I have also rented from Ron at RSR. Top notch shop.

Until you crash one of their cars and they ILLEGALLY attempt to confiscate your passport until you pay them...

All of a sudden their great business practices go out of the window... All of a sudden their professionalism gets shat down a toilet ...

And I quote "the boss doesn't like you to leave the country until you pay" at which point I declined to give them my passport since there is no legal standing to do so ... I had neither committed a criminal nor civil offense

You have been warned...

Btw I paid them in full by int'l wire transfer in less than 72 hours ..
