Default National Extended Warranty - cancelled

Does anyone have extended warranty coverage through National? I recently purchased extended warranty for my .2 GT3 before my original warranty expired from Barrier Porsche. I was originally going to go with Fidelity but learned they no longer write polices for any of the porsche GT cars and was told National still does.

One month into my extended coverage w/ no claims reported/made, I got a letter stating that National is canceling the policy and will no longer warranty this type of car.

Anyone else recently get this message?

I'm assuming they refunded a majority of your payment then?

I hate aftermarket warranty. Rather pay out of my own pocket if the time comes.

I have had fairly good luck with the Fidelity warranty I have, but overall I consider them all pretty scummy.

My fidelity warranty at $4200 and 7yr/70k from date of warranty purchase has been awesome
Paid out over 3 times it's cost so far with years to go
Big hit was leaking cylinder base gaskets requiring a full tear down - parts and labor covered at shop of my choice - $50 deductible paid with pleasure

Ah, hence the reason they are dropping everyone else :-)

So both Fidelity and National are out. Anyone else using aftermarket extended warranty for GT3?

It's unreal value even if only used for peace of mind
Now... When my claim went in for engine tear down, initially they only approved say 10 hours as the gt cars are just classified as 911 in their system...

My tech tried to explain why it takes longer etc and they said they would send an inspector... Inspector came and the shop had my RS and a 997 c4 up on the lifts and my tech showed the inspector the differences and why it would take longer and the inspector got it.

Full approval came after inspector called in to confirm with hq

Now since the gt cars are classified as 911 only in their system, I suspect they are upside down in gt claims... Hence cancellation

They could break out the gt cars from the Carreras if they wanted but I suspect the volume of gt cars and the percentage of ext warranties is a small pool and then add their claim experience and the $ they would have to charge - and it does not make sense to even offer it

Maybe they will offer it again since the 991gt3 is a carerra S plus :-)

So no other aftermarket warranty companies anymore that would cover gt cars? Although I have considered getting one before. I just decided it wasn't worth the upfront cost.

Pjs- kudos to you that the program worked out perfectly. I think others didn't have good experience w aftermarket claims. Must be the WA thing. Heheh no way SoCal dealers/shops will pull that off.

The program has so far paid for itself in my case, the biggest payout being the front radiators that rotted out (a moronic and stupid design by Porsche). But for anything above $750, they send their own tech out for inspection.
