GT2 Battery info.
Can any of the guys, 997 GT2 owners, help with the following ref battery of 997 GT2:
1. Is there any mention in the car's manual of "Battery Specs". Can't seem to find any in the Driver's Manual!!!
2. After some Google search, there are couple of websites (including Porsche AG), where they mention 997 GT2 - Battery Capacity: weight optimized 70 Ah.
Yet another Porsche site! says: 60 Ah.
3. What's the factory battery specs? Ah, size, weight, etc.
Thanks!

Thanks mepps.
I'm looking at other brands, like Bosch AGM. More reliable than Porsche OEM.
Ref 80Ah. I understand the higher the Ah, the heavier the battery
So if by factory standards, 70 Ah is satisfactory power output for this car, one can safely stay within that, no need for higher/heavier unit.
Frankly I am just puzzled by the fact the driver's book has no mention of battery specs, or electrical system specs! Never seen vehicle manual without such vital data

I didn't weigh either when I changed it, they both were heavy lol . I stood in the front trunk to change it out so I didn't drop it on the dang fender. mine seemed reliable, 1st one lasted 4 years or so, I try to keep it on the charger when it just sits.

I just fitted a silver cadmium technology 720CCA 80AH battery, aftermarket UK brand weighed 21kg.
I am also of the school of fit most powerful battery which will fit (BTDT with light weight batteries and they are a PIA )
The one I fitted was 317mm long which seemed to be the biggest which would fit in the battery tray using the standard retaining bolt/fixing. There is room in the tray for a 353mm unit but for some reason the hole for the retaining bolt is not threaded so the battery cannot be bolted down (although it is held in tight as it slots in)

Die Hard battery Ref Number:E2 group 47. It's the exact size and spec as a stock GT2 battery. It uses the last hole in the stock battery tray. Get it at Sears and it comes with a lifetime warranty.

999 611 060 20 = 60ah
999 611 070 20 = 70ah
999 611 080 20 = 80ah
The 60ah was for 0 option cars. Most came with 70 or 80 it seems. Mine was spec'd for 70. I currently have this in the car, starts up every time: Interstate MTP-48/H6 Megatron-Plus ~40 lbs. Its a little smaller than an H7. Still heavy though.

Based on other recommendations I read here I just installed a Walmart Everstart Maxx H7 in my 997 GT2 after my OEM battery failed. It fit perfectly and there is a vent in exactly the right location for the OEM vent hose to plug in to. 790 Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) vs OEM 300. 5 lbs lighter, 42 lbs vs 47lbs.
