Question regarding Fabspeed maxflo and side muffler bypass
I'm contemplating on getting Fabspeed side muffler bypass pipes and maxflo exhaust for my 997.1 GT3. I'd like to know if anyone has that combo. I'd like to have a more aggressive note and weight savings but I'm not sure if it'll drone. Any opinions is appreciated.

I have the fabspeed maxflo and side muffler bypass on my 997.2 GT3. It's definitely a good bit louder than OEM but in a good way. I've gotten a lot of compliments on the sound (has a bit of a cup car sound). The exhaust set-up is very light...maybe 10lbs so you'll save about 50-60lbs very OEM plus the rear fenders won't heat up because of the side mufflers. I recommend them if you want the car to sound as good as it looks.

Since the valves for this system are in the side mufflers it might be worth a look into the Fabspeed Center muffler bypass which will maintain the exhaust function with the sport mode.

I have a fabspeed exhaust/headers /intake.
I have gotten alot of compliments, people really like the way the car sounds ... It is easy on road trips and a bit louder then stock. No drone to me.
Eventually i plan to go to a louder exhaust as i'm just obnoxious. From cars i have driven, the one i have seems prettys to have a bit more torque. I had a fabspeed intake ( took it off ) but i noticed at night, when i had my fabspeed intake - the rpm's really shot like a cracked out horse after 6500 rpm... just my take.

Here some news on 997GT3 exhaust.
I was the first tuner to develop parts for these cars. One of my hedge fund buddies airfreight the 1st GT3 into the USA. I developed muffler bypass pipes and the car lost -7hp at the tires versus the stock OEM factory muffler.
I then designed mini Maxflo mufflers that are very small yet light and after 5 dyno developed revisions the fabspeed Maxflo mufflers added +5HP over the stock 997gt3 muffler.
12 to 18 months later several companies are selling muffler bypass pipes all day long that lose -7HP versus stock and -12HP versus the Fabspeed Maxflo mufflers.
Caveat emptor muffler bypass pipes do not always work and dyno before and after.
Eventually fabspeed designed muffler bypass pipes BUT added a center merge H pipe that made the car even on the power side with factory muffler. rSS has a nice X pipe.
The fabspeed side muffler bypass pipes and rear Maxflo are a great street track setup.
for all out maximum power torque and everything 997GT3 headers with HJS sports race ats along with side muffler bypass pipes and rear mufflers will make maximum power!
I've probably had 50 to 70 GT3 cars into my shop since 2004. These are great cars

You most definitely lost 7hp with a 997GT3 muffler bypass system with no X pipe or balance tube
Many companies have been selling 997GT3 muffler bypass pipes from all over the world and do not care whatsoever as it is all sales and business simple as that. Pictures are everywhere on these gt3 muffler bypass pipes.
On true unmolested non tampered no correction unfactored Dyno results the 997GT3 will drop 7 HP at the rear wheels. When i was dynoing in 2006 and january 2007 the dyno results were consistent and did not vary. I was disappointed as one would assume and hypothesize that no 997GT3 muffler has to be better in terms of flow and making power than any muffler. The dyno does not lie unless I grew correction factors and or dishonestly manipulated the results.
Losing 7 hp is statistically significant loss of power that is several cars lengths on a long straight at the track and car lengths all over the remainder of the track.
The sad thing is yes it sounds good BUT I refused to sell the regular simple center 997GT3 muffler bypass pipes because losing 7 HP is a major loss in power on any car and losing power goes directly against Fabspeed Motorsports mission and objectives. I could have also sold the **** out of muffler bypass pipes all made in house on my defense quality all electric mandrel bender. Www.unisonltd.com
The real answer for all 997GT3 engines is developing lightweight sports mufflers with special chambers inside that created some power and attenuated the loudness. My engineers and I after 5 different muffler revisions added +5hp over the stock 997gt3 rear OEM muffler and therefore a massive 12hp over simple muffler bypass pipes. Other companies can do this also but muffler bypass pipes with no H or X are too simple and too easy to make, no tooling, out source able, and require no effort and no dyno development testing
The biggest gain on all these cars is Fabspeed headers with F1 merge collectors and special HJS directional catalytic converters that we use on the 660hp MCLaren MP4 12C cars these headers really wake up these cars with giant true power gains.
I have offered our Fabspeed 997GT3 headers to several GT3 specialists as private label but a lot of pettiness persists and we have been turned down.
On many customers 997GT3 cars looking for maximum power we install maxflo headers with sport cats side muffler bypass pipes and either leave the stock center muffler so it is not too loud and or install minim Maxflo mufflers. I also manufacture 90 degree turndowns for these cars.
The more power these cars make the more airflow needs to be efficiently ejected by the exhaust system. The catalytic converters are typically the bottleneck. Often USA , German and other tuners ignore the headers and catalytic converters as quality catalytic converters are expensive and work is involved. we sell this all the time with Ferrari , Lamborghini, and other exotics. It takes time and repeated dyno development effort to make quality sports car sound and power on these high strung GT3 cars.

I'm sure this guy loved the high quality fabspeed products. Post #54 is where it gets real interesting.
