Default Tim McKenzie sadly takes the checkered flag

I am sad to report that Tim passed away yesterday after a valiant fight with pancreatic cancer. Tim was an avid racer and competitor. He was very briefly my teammate in IMSA GT3 Cup. I first met him on track when we shared a race trailer and he came back in feeling very weak after a practice session, which he finished in the top 3 or 4 despite looking like a zombie.

He went to the hospital and that was the beginning of his diagnosis and prolonged battle. Apparently he was still talking about his return to racing as recently as 5-6 weeks ago. I was glad to hear that he was still motivated to do battle on the track even towards the end. It just demonstrates his passion for the sport.

We are requesting that IMSA do something in Tim's honor in the future.

Did not know of the individual BUT as a physician (interventional radiologist) I know the disease all too well sadly. We do our best with chemotherpeutic infusion the disease at times still is overwhelming.
Sorry to read about Tom McKenzie.
RIP

I couldn agree more...its sad. I know our doctors are doing the best they can..but sometimes I ask myself whetehr we are putting enough into R&D here. If you look at the figures..probably not (comparison to military spending etc).

Mankind can soon fly to Mars..but we havent sorted out other (more important)things.

I didnt know him...but he was one of us.

Thanks guys. Frustrating and depressing to see a guy with such passion quickly disappear. He was the epitome of one of us.
