That WAS my car. The seller is a liar saying it has never been tracked. I sold the car at auction to get rid of it and did NOT post it here on RL... Please do not email or PM me asking about the car - just don't buy it.

The cost of running the RS is no more than any other GT3 unless I'm missing something.
Here's the recipe.

I have to agree with your opinion. but, isn't nonRS-GT3's value also going up right now? maybe not as much as RS's ?

I think any analog gt3 will be attractive once Porsche floods the market w pdk cars. But only to the purists.... Tech lovers will love more technology and will broaden the market.. It will be faster.. Look at Nissan gtr... Ferarri.. All paddle shifter and fan boys love them.

For my money: Save the hassles, get the 4.0RS Flywheel/PP/Clutch, $2k. Get the decklid and wing ~$6k in the aftermarket. Get a set of M&M headers/center muffler and a tune $7-8k and keep $30k in your pocket for future mods.

You've got the GT3 already a little bit of mods and you'll be right there... besides with the accident on yours you've already got some diminished value to play with...

Porsche marketing got it right in terms of the difference between the GT3 and the RS. The GT3 is a street car for occasional track time, the RS is the track car for occasional street time.

If you're going to mostly track time then you might want to look for the RS. As Mvez stated, more inventory will become available once the new 991 GT3 begins to arrive a dealerships.

I have both of these 997.2 GT3 & RS. Not worth the difference in price. GT3 is bullet-proof, RS has demons. Wish I had skipped the whole RS nonsense and bought a second GT3. The only thing the GT3 needs is better gearing ratios (not the best in RS either).

^^^ This!

Both deserve better gearing i.e closer and shorter- we don't need 190+mph.

RS is for the collectors or because it was your dream car- 3's are for the drivers and modifiers.

I agree the price difference between .2 GT3 and .2RS is nuts.

However, the .1RS doesn't have demons. Simple, cheap suspension mods, and a set of headers/cats make it just as fast and better handling than a stock .2 GT3. For racing, you need to Re-gear the box. For long-term DE use, stock gearing is ok.

From a value play, if you want an RS, I would buy a .1 and don't look back. You get the best of both worlds.

LOL...........classic dealer stuff!

Some of the .2 GT3s I see are priced pretty well even when compared to low mileage 996s. The .1 or .2 RS cars are WAY overpriced now and when new. I have a narrow vision and only see these cars as track cars so my perspective is limited to say the least. I can't begin to fathom paying 250k plus for a 4.0 to park in a garage but then again I'm a poor bastard and don't own any art work either LOL.

I looked at buying either the non-RS and RS 997.2 at the end of last year (before the blip up in prices with the 991 GT3 PDK announcement). My car is mainly a weekend street car that sees occasional track days (10-12 days a year). My skill level on the track is intermediate so I doubt I'll get to the full potential of the car so I would have never been able to extract that slight increased track performance of the RS. For the extra money I was going to spend on the RS, I ended up converting to a 5-lug set-up, got RSS suspension pieces, picked up an exhaust, got a short shifter with cables, etc. Even after I bought all of those goodies, I still have plenty of pocket change left over from the $30k that I saved by buying a non-RS versus an RS. If you are going to get a car for track duty, then I say opt for the RS but if it's going to be drive on the street of the majority of time then get the non-RS.

.2 RS gremlins overblown. intake flap is warranty/recall issue so that's old news. if you're rough on tranny you need 4.0 clutch upgrade but same holds true for non-RS. CL's are PITA for hard-core trackers but again same on .2 non-RS.

Agree .1 RS are the bargains.

Don't expect .2 RS's to flood the market anytime soon. There just aren't that many and a lot of guys waiting for 991's plan to own both. Clean, low-mile, no-story .2 RS's will remain scarce.
