remember see a nice mod list as your sig. ![burnout](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/burnout.gif)
996 GT2 prices should be similar to '7 GT3 prices, no?
I plan on DD'ing mine next year(expect winter/salt months, and will have a beater for downtown parking etc.)

Ive never understood that either. So many people sound like its such a huge uncomfortable chore to drive. I think they are great on the street and perfectly fine for daily use.
Same reason I dont get the PDK. Rowing gears isnt difficult, and the PDK is just too simple and boring.

The 997.1 GT3 is a luxoboat compared to 996 GT3. Softer, rounder and more comfortable.
With *** seats is very easy to live with everyday if you must.
Coming from a TT you may also find the 3.8L GT3 a little bland in the torque, power department.
Your best bet is to sample a 997GT2.

Someone else said this rather eloquently in another thread, but I'll try to paraphrase... The 996 gt3 was made using the technology of it's era to accomplish it's goals. The objective was not to make a car that beats you up; but rather a car that provides the desired performance. The resulting NVH is a side effect. The subsequent generations provide equal or better performance, along with less harshness.
Some people seem to revel in this notion that if a car beats you up, then it has to be "raw." How many times have you seen kids put 1000 lb/in springs on an e36 m3 with grins ear to ear over the resulting "rawness" when they have accomplished nothing but making the suspension utterly non-compliant.
All GT3s are great cars, but at the end of the day, every newer GT3 is BETTER, as it should be, otherwise they need to do some serious layoffs in Stuttgart.
Now what's the best value? That's an entirely different topic.

Agree with Serge944
Also, you're not comparing apples to apples. A 996tt with $35k in mods probably leaves a 3.8RS in the dust. The 911 Turbo / GT2 platform is almost comically modifiable. Saying that you weren't wowed is kinda like Nigel Mansel saying that "oh after driving F1 cars this Ferrari road car isn't THAT impressive"
The GT3 on the road is fine. It scrapes on driveways and bumps but whatever. The genI is starved for power and torque though, something that the genII has sorted out.
To eclipse your current car, you probably need a modified 997 GT2 or GT2RS.

Well I find my .1 GT3 very streetable, and not too harsh at all. Now my 2 wheel drive GT2 spec 993 TT, that was raw and perhaps a bit much for the street. I do think the .1 GT3 when driven near it's limit in track like conditions is pretty damn exhilirating though.

I'm an avid cyclist as well and while I have a few other cars that typically carry the bike(s), those days when I need the GT3 and the bike, there is nothing like that combo

Secondly, I came from a 996tt with a flash & PSS10's prior to the .1 GT3 in the garage right now. Different cars certainly, but both have their great merits. If I could have the torque and pull of the Turbo along with the rawness of the GT3, I think it would make just about the perfect car.
I guess a GT2 may be in the future

I agree.... just that almost all GT3 owners make it sound like a 997 is like driving a chariot. "To harsh " " to stiff " "takes to much effort" "yada yada" " its a workout driving on the street " ...i thought it was super easy to drive. I was actually a bit concern in street drive ability by some of the threads that are made here.... i guess its just different strokes for different folks.
2. i am over the hill, izzone and trakcar of the downslope on the other side of the hill.
3. you are 20 YO. so you can deal with the bounce.
4. get the .1 or the .2 and put MCS on it. then bring it over. i will test it for you

Enrique, have you driven a 996GT2? Go drive one before you make a decision. Thats what I'd get if I were you. Have the stock LSD rebuilt with Guard guts, flash it and call it a day. It's a real drivers car, no PSM or AWD. Just ABS and the driver. I've thought about a 7.GT3 but at the end of the day I just can't see getting rid of my car. There are very few cars that can touch a well set up and driven GT2. I think you prefer a car thats pretty tailbappy and that's easy to dial in with a GT2.

"Streetable" or not depends as much on the streets you'll be driving as it does on the car itself. When I moved from Austin to central Houston my notion of "streetable" changed dramatically. The GT3 stays in the garage and I daily a WRX now. Just keep that in mind before you pass judgment on those who disagree in this regard.
