Help Required - Lowering Sport Bucket Seats
Hi
Has anyone had success in lowering GT2 / Sport Bucket Seats?
These seats actually have a narrower rear mounting point separation than at the front so you need an offset bracket
I have fitted the front cage now and want to get well under the bars/pads
By placing the complete seat on a bench and marking out heights etc.. I find there is some 28mm or 1 1/8" to be gained which would be great
BK brackets don't work as they are for parallel sided seats
I have a design for getting custom brackets made but thought it may be worth going to the RL forum for input
Thanks in anticipation

Hi NorthVan
Seems the path - and yes I will
Hi Mooty
I bought the BK bolt to floor kit which gives the clearance I want but its based on parallel sided seat mounts
I also had a Sparco Ergo XL but the BK brackets side mount holes are set for Porsche spacings not standard aftermarket seat spacings.
So I bought a set of Sparco Alloy side mount brackets and then couldn't get a position that was either lower or as far back as the standard GT2 with the seat cushion removed.
I like the idea of the Sparco Ergo as it has removable halo wings making suitable for road use to and from the track.
there is also a bit of a trick in mounting as being tall the back torx bolts on the floor brackets are well under the seat and the side bolts on the tunnel side are not accessible due to the tunnel itself. so you need to devise a method to tighten the rear floor bolts with the assembly complete.
I think I have a design done for both the Sparco and the Porsche GT2 seats.
I am chasing a fabrication shop now and will post once I have success.
I was just hoping someone else may have already walked the path and could save me some time. Still I have learned a lot from others on this forum so time to share.

fab shop is the way to go.
i have mounted a lot of things to a lot of cars (not only seats). my shop has never failed me. but everything was custom cut, drilled etc.

Tarret makes some brackets that let you lower the seat on stock sliders. I have tried them and the work ok (required some rework to make it perfect). Best option I found on the market.

was that with a GT2/sport bucket style seat?
Fired that one off too soon, went to Tarrett website and photo shows a GT2 seat
Thanks for the push in the right direction!

if you intent is to sit lower i took the cushion completely out of the bottom pad and filled it with stuffing from an old throw pillow. i sit a good 3 inches lower and its perfect. still comfortable for long trips for me. you can replace the cushion any time without hurting it. give that a try.

Hi Carrering
Thanks for the input, fyi
I already take the cushion out, had to even before putting the cage in.
Cushion out with padding on cage is like bouncing my head along the track directly
6' 5" and 250lbs takes a bit of packing to get it out of the way!!
With the seat lowered and cushion out I will clear the cage with good margins

I have the same issue 6'5 with long torso . . .I wish the sport buckets also reclined- similar to the seats in the 430 scuderia.
Please keep us posted with results...I have a feeling I'll be trying things to make these more comfortable

Hope you all find something...that's not mega bucks either. I'm 6'5 and could use to lower the seat but just getting it to slide back another inch or 2 is what I need the most.
