Gt3 or r8 v10?
Guys, I currently have a 997.1 c2s and I am looking to upgrade! I love the 911 but currently got interested in the r8 v10. Anybody have any feedback on the r8 vs gt3?

I own an R8 v10 and a 996 GT3. They are two completely opposite end of the spectrum, and I love them both. If you are choosing between the two, I agree with mooty, 5 minutes in each car will tell you all you need to know and make your decision easy.

R8 V10 has an amazing engine. Lots of power, revs high, feels like it has a feather weight flywheel. All the controls are very light. You could drive the manual in traffic every day. There's lots of space in the cabin, but not much luggage space. Car feels very wide and a bit heavy.
GT3 has an equally good engine and transmission combo. Controls are all much heavier, particularly the clutch. The ride is stiffer and the car is a lot noisier. It's much more visceral overall. You would have to be motivated in order to drive it everyday. The car feels smaller and more nimble than the R8.
I thought the R8 felt like a really fantastic C4S. The GT3 feels like an exotic.

Mooty is wise...The Mr. Miyagi of Rennlist.
I was invited to drive an R8 two years ago. I chose a manual V10. Very nice, easy to live with. Many years ago, my father drove a Honda Accord. It felt like that, with more power. My RS, on the other hand, feels more like an adventure.

IMHO it depends on if you are going to track the car or not. I have an R8GT and a .2GT3RS, if I am going to the track I want to be in the RS, if I am going to Austin (road trip) I want to be in the R8. The Audi is also easier to manage in stop and start traffic.

I asked Timo Bernhard that same question a couple of years ago - while he was still driving the Audi LMP1 car. Without hesitation he said get the GT3!

gt3 all the way. I've driven the v10 w / the older autmated tranny and it was a POS. Apparently they fixed it for the 14 model. I did enjoy driving the v8 w/ a stick, very nice, however I felt like it was slow-way slower than a gt3.
If youre looking for a paddle shift car, why not wait for the 991 gt3?

I just drove my friends new 2014 S tronic V10 coupe. It is ok - I still like my 2012 V10 manual better. The light flywheel is definitely more noticeable in the manual. The car is more of an attention ***** and a bit heavy. The GT3 is the real deal - more nimble and visceral.
