I drive a cayman because I can't afford more. The same is true with 95% of other cayman drivers. If we could afford gt2s, we'd buy them. I don't know why there are so many jerks in the coxster community.

Only way a stock Cayman is passing a GT2 is if the latter is missing two or three wheels.

Or the Cayman has Leh Keen in it.

Both cars are very cool, and great performance cars, but there is a world between them in performance terms. Strange thread, indeed!

One after day after the track was cold P. Long pulled out a GT2 RS and a GT3 RS and did some hot laps, I clocked the GT2 RS at a 2:02.xx (Millers outerloop) I think a well driven Cayman with the same tires would do good to see a 2:15.xx

A friend of mine has one of each, and I took a couple laps in the GT2 yesterday. Absolutely no comparison, even on a tight autocross the GT2 is a second or more quicker, and that more things open up the faster it will go. Very impressive machine, much easier to drive than I'd expected.

That said, he's selling the GT2 and instead adding power to the Cayman. Primarily because the turbo lag in the GT2 spoils the fun in tight stuff. His belief is that for an equal total investment the Cayman can be quicker, we'll see.

Oops! Sorry you mentioned the turbo lag. I was thinking about the one for sale on this forum.

That's why i've always stayed away from turbos.

If I were you, playing on the big track up at 8k feet, I'd get one. GT2 RS if I could afford it. There is some lag, but after that there is a 3k rpm powerband with 500 ft lbs at the wheels, wide enough to stay in even on a tight track:

It's a manual, you'll never get bored of it, it'll be fast as hell... As for the lag, you can buy a turbo and have temporary lag, or you can buy normally aspirated and at 8k feet you'll have permanent lag.

It will still be street drive a lot. If noting else going back and forth to the tracks. Lag would drive me nuts.

I'd prefer to deal with less, but smooth delivery HP.
