Cayman or GT2? Why are there so many arguments?

same driver, GT2 will be faster. Cayman is easier for a less experienced driver to find the cars full potential. the torque and horsepower of the GT2 will dominate on most tracks. As mentioned above, they really are two VERY different cars. You need to drive both and decide which feels best to you. I own a GT3RS and recently bought a Cayman. It's a great little track car. Excellent balance. Eats up the curves. Just needs more power. The Cayman does require some modifications (brakes, cooling, suspension) to handle advanced track duties. The GT2 needs very little to go out on track.
And what does that have to do with the inherent superiority of the mid-engine platform?

Both are amazing cars, but the GT2 is brutally faster. The GT2 will be much more difficult to master, so if you want a challenge and a sense of accomplishment, it's the way to go. The cayman is better dynamically and the most balanced car porsche makes. The new version is good, but the steering feel is a big step backwards compared to the Cayman R.
But trolls will be trolls. We should put this to bed.

Have you found a GT2 to test?
Here's a brand new RS for sale. I came close to bidding on it. I'm thinking 225K might get it, but maybe not.

I'm going to test drive a new Cayman and GT2, I'm wondering why there are so many arguments like these about the two?

Can anybody tell me the real deal? It seems like Cayman owners have "something to prove"

I'm looking for a weekend track car only.
Cayman owners tell me to get a Cayman and often criticize the 997 for being a pendelum.
What I'm worried about is when I test drive these cars, I won't have the proper technique coming from a front-engine car and it won't strike me how to properly track it for a couple weeks.
I'm really gearing towards the 997 GT2 but will Caymans make me look like a fool on the track?

Moneypenny and Fergo, did you get bored trolling on the BMW boards? Judging by post count, I'd say yes.
I've owned a 987.2 Cayman S and now a 997.2 GT3 (slower than a well driven GT2). There is no comparison. Here's the delta for you based on real laps on real tracks (both on R comps):
AAA Speedway: GT3 - 7 seconds faster (gotta love aero and +115 hp)
Laguna Seca: GT3 - 3 seconds faster
Buttonwillow: GT3 - 4 seconds faster
Buy a GT3/GT2 on your video game of choice and have fun!
