I currently have my car listed for sale and checked with my local dealership to see if the CPO extended warranty (that I bought when I purchased the car from a Porsche dealer) is transferable and they said it was. Got a call from a potential buyer and they said they checked with a dealer said it was not. Which is it? My dealer said all they have to do is register their name with Porsche as the new owner.

Last I heard the CPO warranty was transferable if the car was being sold privately to another private buyer or sold (traded-in) to a Porsche dealer. All other sales have the warranty voided.
The Porsche web site in the CPO section should cover this.
Or call PCNA customer service and ask someone there if the warranty is transferable and what is required to transfer it.

If you buy from another Porsche dealer, or from a private party such as yourself OP with CPO then it is transferrable. If a CPO'd car gets traded into a non Porsche dealer, the CPO is voided.

No. A dealer would be able to get a non CPO car certified (if it qualifies and of course if the dealer is not BHP
) and you'd have to pay for that. But if the car is already CPO'd and you sold it to a private party, the CPO goes with it.

It's not difficult.
Only way to get CPO is 2 ways:
1. Buy a car from a private individual that is currently under CPO
2. Buy a car from a Porsche dealer that CPO's the car.
*You can get around this slightly if you find a car that is not CPO'd (i.e.,not at a Porsche dealer or from a PP that is selling a non-CPO car) and you want it CPO'd. You have to have a dealer agree to be a pass-through for the transaction. They buy the car for you and then sell it to you at that same price PLUS the cost to CPO the car and any required work to get it CPO'able.
*CPO becomes VOID if car is sold/traded into a dealer, ANY dealer including Porsche. A Porsche dealer would have to re-certify it for there to be CPO with it. And they are the ONLY ones that can CPO a car with a "new" clock of 24 months.
