Default Going from a .2GT3 RS to a .1GT3 RS - Will I regret it?

About a year ago I sold my 2011 RS for a race car...HUGE MISTAKE! I'm now looking to get back into a RS and I'm leaning toward a .1 for many reasons; namely cost and I always liked the retro more analog style of the .1 and I hated the wheel system on the .2 I plan to use it on the street (not daily) and on the track about 10 times per year. Am I crazy for considering the .1? Will it feel that much different? Will I regret going it?

Your thoughts are appreciated.

Love the green .1 RS. If you are just using it on the street, CL are not a big deal. Really once you do them, they are not hard.

Cant go wrong with a 997.1RS for the long term. Prices are stable and the performance is not far off a 997.2. You will not be disappointed.

5 lugs will keep you a happy owner with no regrets.

Get it in Orange or Green to really take advantage of the .1 era...

I love my pumpkin, have done 250 miles in 4.0 at ThunderHill and it's a great car but not worth the money IMHO.

Have you considered a 997.2 GT3? 20K less than RS.2.

Using it for the street and about 12-15 track days per year. I had the center lock system on my 11RS and in my opinion its a total nightmare to get that darn center piece in the locking system to pop out. I can't tell you how many .2RSs I've seen where people don't even know its suppose to pop out. Sometims it qucik and easy to change other times it was a nightmare. There is a conversion but I like to keep that stuff stock.

Thanks for the replies. The search for green .1 starts today! Orange will do do too.

Have you considered the new 2014 Cayman S? Comes with 5 lug, full factory warranty, no RMS seal leaks, no TPMS battery replacements, can get new one for $70+k.

Just go for the 997.2RS and forget about it! My buddy has a 2011 grey black for sale.

u missed a very clean green RS by 1 monty ;(
personally the only .1RS i like is PJS'. that thing cost more to duplicate than 4.0. other than that car, .2RS is much better. the CL is.... *^#%&Q(%&)^#%____fk, just bit the bullet and convert to lugs, you will be thanking me over and over. your nails will not be covered with grease.

of course you missed my RS with all that done by 3 months !

do it.

An extension bolt, end of a torque wrench, or pair of pliers seems to work. I just take someone torque wrench for their 5 lug cars and pop the lock out in about 5 seconds a wheel.

There is a tool for the centerlock pen offered by Orbit and problem solved:
