Default finally RS-5 for sale in USA

http://news.yahoo.com/rs-5-comes-us-...190304396.html

I would buy one, but it seems it is again mostly smoke and mirrors.
450hp, I saw them in Europe, quite nice cars, $70k mark, priced ok for the market, not like this 991 gt3 BS.

I have one, it's a fantastic ride. NOT a track car but perfect for street use and daily driving. Mine has the optional sport exhaust it sounds awesome. The new Audi PDK equivalent is also excellent and I'm getting used to the paddle shifters. I agonized long and hard about trading my manual transmission S5 in for it but it was worth it....

that is that bothers me as well now as even with those rudimentary back seats in the 997 I have I need something for kids to seat on properly, oldest one refuses to get into 997 now (in a back) so it effectively results with me not using my car at all and driving in old lexus or wife`s Honda which she refuses to give up. it drives me nuts.

I like the look of the S/RS5 and they sound FANTASTIC, but having had to cram myself into the back seat of one (S5) during a snow storm in calgary, there is no way I could use one of these as my business/daily driver car. I've a 535 m "sport" (kinda sporty but still mushy compared to my e60) now and its fine, especially with the crazy subsidized leases that BMW offers on these things, makes them cheap (relatively) to own. The nice thing having a car like the 535 as a DD does is make getting into the RS a super-special driver experience. Talk about night and day.

By the time I sold my RS4 it had to be all coked up with carbon buildup. Audi would not cover the cleaning of the intake. Have they re-engineered their FSI engines yet?

If it drives like every single Audi I had / drove ... no thank you. I learned that Audi has been the most nose heavy sporty car I drove.
RS2, S3 (not that bad), RS4, RS6.
By the middle of the decade they were years behind any M BMW on driving feel, and performance.

Evo or CAR had a nice RS5 vs. E92 vs. C63 comparo, and as usual the M3 won.

Used C63 Black Series with look-at-me kit once it takes the typical MB depreciation.

Nothing from Audi calls my interest, except an used R8-V8 with manual transmission for $60k, but asking prices are a little higher (overpriced, like 997 GT2).

I would be interested in the RS4 Wagon or the RS6 Wagon...but they don't bring exciting cars like that to the US anymore!

The sedans are "pigs" so to speak, eat tires faster than my GT3. I've owned over half a dozen in the past 25 years and the only one I like (for its intended purpose) is the allroad. Relatively nice balance (all Audi station wagons actually handle better -with the proper suspension- than their sedan counterparts. The 2.7T is such a sweet engine and I'm lucky to own a stick version
The steering is way too light but it tightens up around 90...
Audi's lost their Mojo with incredible prices (high!) and outdated electronics (the new A3 has a better nav than the $175K A8 Spyder GT...
Read an article in one of the car magazines about infighting at Audi who's boss and in addition to VW telling them to let Porsche design the "sporty stuff"...
Too bad, because when I was younger and before all the traction control etc., it was the only car you could take skiing and not having to put on chains because of the quattro system. Only Subaru had 4-wheel drive in the 80's. Now everybody has "traction" to go to the snow and the quattro system is now like an "iron ball" weighing a ton and not doing much...
Horst.

good car. but here in the philippines, they had a hard time selling that car. it wasn't as fast as a C63 nor did it handle like the M3. it does look good and a good drive. but i think a lot of people consider other options given the price point.

I had the same problem with my S5, apparently solved with this new engine...
