The text reads:
" Porsche has determined that an intake air distributor may have been installed in your vehicle during production with a guiding shaft for the resonance flap that does not meet Porsche specifications. As a result, the shaft may break and broken pieces may get into the intake duct or, ultimately, into the combustion chambers. This can cause loud noises and may result in mechanical damage if the engine is not stopped immediately.
To prevent any damage occurring the intake air distributors in your vehicle need to be replaced"
Work is under warranty. Wonder if this was the cause of engine failures ? - sounds as it it might be catastrophic in track conditions. Recall is in Canada, by the way.

YOU ARE NOT GOING TO BELIEVE THIS !!!!
Bob: I know you are going to love this. The car went in for the hubs, etc. replacement and is having the air inductor plenum replaced under the Workshop Campaign" notice at the same time. Porsche is allowing the dealers 2.7 hrs for the replacement job. Easy enough if it all could be done from the top. While the old plenum can be snaked out from the top because it is plastic with some give, the new one is metal and inflexible (which is probably what they should have done in the first place). THEREFORE, THEY HAVE TO DROP THE ENGINE TO DO IT. Not really my problem, but the dealers are apparently up in arms over it since it will now take more than 8 hrs to do. Now Porsche is not only trying to screw their customers, but their own dealers.
As for the CL's- to bring a car into Canada from the US, all repairs covered by a "recall" must have been performed and signed off on by the dealer before export. Canada considers these "workshop campaigns" a recall. My friend the dealer cannot export a 1000 mile Turbo S cab. to Canada unless the hub replacement, etc has been done. This story just keeps getting better.

I brought my car in last week for a track inspection and they mentioned this recall
This exact situation happened to me - took over 10 hours to get this thing done - wow
At least I understand why now

dealer did a "track inspection?"
what is that?
mine goes in next week for the recall. not looking forward to dropping the engine for a stupid air intake distributor

Well, they might was well do the timing actuator bolts check as well if the engine has to be dropped....and all the coolant hosey stuff.

Track inspection was a per track event inspection where they check over all the important bits of the car before you take it to the track to ensure track worthiness - mandatory for PCNA events I was told - I can't scan the sheet with the checklist and post if you're curious!
