Aren't the straps limiting how far your head can move in any direction, including sideways?

Car and Driver had a nice piece about this awhile back. Just my interpretation of the physical / fundamental forces described, I don't think it offers much in the way of mitigation of a severe lateral force such as the one demonstrated in this video.
The vectors:
A=Shearing force
B=Tension force
C=Total Neck Load

From Necksgen's website:

Halo seems like a good idea too. But, these gen2 HANS style devices might be better than gen1.
9. Tension Neutralizing Tether: Using a single self-neutralizing tether, the loads under impact are distributed through four different load paths. This unique system offers an equal distribution of forces under impact. This system also offers a full range of head motion and side and angular impact protection.

thank you so much for your answers.
yes... so lucky...
your comments are very importants and i study all of those. so thank you. more details :
the 2 side airbargs (seat and door). you can see on the video that the tank door jump in the air before the crash, at the first spin. the 2 glasses exploded.
for sure, i have to learn about this accident that i will invest in security seats, hans, and i think front rollbar. if that happened to every one, as you said, stay in the car, don'y move, and keep your helmet, i'm so lucky haven't got nothing at the head, it could be a desaster because i take away my helmet too quickly.
all this could happened to every one of us, so take care...
my car is a non RS 3.8 GT3, and the chassis was all new, because after my centerlock failure, Porsche changed all the parts just before. so all was new. i saw one video of a friend riding in the same session, it happened exactly the same thing, but very lower, so he just fail the curve after, no more... what meens that there was oil or fluid on the track

The takeaway for me is that the angular impact thrashed his neck pretty hard at that level of damage to the car (minimal)! Imagine if the car looked worse.
All that said, I LOVE the wrap on the car. And that you're 9 on the right, and 5 on the left. Hehe.
Hope you're back in the saddle soon.

this track has awesome protection systems. none of tracks I drove here would give same result, after such hit car would be severely dented after hitting tire wall. on that track it seems they used some special foam and water barrels, very cool technology, especially compared to bare painted concrete wall.

yes, i think so. catalunya is a F1 track and the spain grand prix have been 2 weeks before this track day. So i think they have all FIA technologies for protection around the track.

At first, I thought you were posting a picture before the crash, then looked at pictures 2 and 3 and noticed it was the crashed. Doesn't look bad at all, looks like you crashed into a bed with all that foam.
