How is vision with the halos?

Unfortunately -- I don't have spotters to help my blind spots....

Glad that you are OK.

Not much else to say but, thank heavens for modern crash safety. Just finished watching a short documentary on how nascar became safer....the crashes and deaths are out of this world and sad.

This time, at the end of the straight line, on the braking point, there was some oil. I could'nt do nothing to control the car at more than 160 MPH and that gone directly against the tire wall.
after 24h observation in the hospital, all was OK for me. i just want to invest in a hans, and a front rollbar...
look at this it's incredible :
Like everyone said I am so glad you are OK. I was surprised to see you put your hand up to your helmet right before the crash which may help reduce lateral movement of your neck. Hans, 6 point harness, halo seats and roll bar will be great addition for safety. Oil and more dangerous coolant could easily cause this slide and you did well controlling the slide. Hope you will get the car fix soon and back on track

Glad you are OK! That looked nasty!

Probably should have stayed in the car though. If the car behind you hit the oil as well, it could have been bad to be standing next to the car.

Franck84, you had your OEM Schroth six point harness on BUT they appear to be either badly adjusted or not buckled up, you shouldn't have been able to move so much in your seat!

Front air bags won't deploy unless the impact is in the range of 30* of dead-ahead so yes he was lucky.

The side airbags will only deploy if there is a passenger in that side (impact side) of the vehicle... no point if no one there!

All worked as they were supposed to!

Considering everything, I think this worked out very well

The seat with the removable halo system is very interesting. Thanks for sharing.

He was either really lucky or really smart not to be buckled in a 6 point harness

Glad you are OK and no doubt a halo seat is going in my GT3. Anyone want some nice leather GT3 seats like these: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=...QEwAw&dur=2145

$2250 picked up in charlottesville VA 22901. They are in very good shape.

No problem. It is the only one in the market. I guess not many people want the protection of a halo seat while still drive the car on the street. (Most people who care enough to want a halo probably trailer or have a dedicated track car)

With halo no real issues with visibility just look underneath elephant ears for street. Only thing is getting in/out of car since side bolsters are higher up and moving head/body forward of elephant ear. Cfchan- out of curiosity is that seat legal for racing. If so great design. Mike

Mike,

It is FIA certified and all that, so I assume it is legal.

I'd also like to see this answered. Of course, a HANS + halo seat would be best but I would think HANS (w/o halo) would also help, no?

OP, as everyone here, really sorry for the crash and glad you walked away unharmed. Was the fluid already on the track or did it come from your car? Are you sure it was caused by fluid and not by a mechanical failure (suspension, wheel, tire, etc)?
