GT3 Rs 3.8 or GT3 Rs 4.0

Had a 3.8 RS and sold it to get a 4.0 RS. Luckily it was not twice as much but a good 50% more $$. This is an interesting question and will stir up a good debate. The quick answer is of course 2 3.8RS's. However, the 4.0 really is something pretty special. Lots more midrange punch and more dialed in handling. However twice as much thrill for most people...no. But then again very few of us on this site are like most people and we really appreciate the subtle differences. Despite the track numbers, the differences between the 3.8 and 4.0 don't feel that subtle. People that are enthusiasts like we are(or those that appreciate fine wines, or the differences in vintage guitars or amps like I do) will easily justify the extra $$ for those differences because we love these things and it is not a rational decision. One of my reasons for justifying coughing up the extra $$ for the 4.0 is that I blow money on far stupider things that give me less pleasure and I have less control over. The 4.0 is some of the happiest money I have spent. The fact that there are others who feel the same way I do and the low production numbers of the 4.0 along with the death of manual in GT3's means I also have the added pleasure of feeling that it is a fairly safe investment. You will have more fun with one 4.0. What the he'll do you do with 2 3.8's? If you are looking for a long term investment as it seems you may be, years from now the 4.0RS will probably be worth more than twice a 3.8 . Not that the 3.8 is not fabulous. But for now.....to each his own.

Are you kidding...........2 of the same car for the slight gains of the 4.0". Unless you have unlimited funds and are a car collector. get the GT3RS and something completely different. Like a McLaren, Ferrari 430 spider F360 spider and a used 930 and have 3 cars depending on choices.

I love owning the 4.0 one day soon I might actually drive it again ;-)
Some don't mind having lots of cars sitting around, pay insurance and registration for, take care of them etc.
Light to keep it OCD simple.
I might lose more, or I might lose less..
Either way, it is the best one, the last one and the one to have.
What's it worth over a 3.8RS? 20K 100K 150K?
CF fenders, hood and building 500 N/S HP is not free either but you can certainly go much faster for much less. If you are buying it for lap times its not worth it, get a CUP car or a Turbo car and slicks.
My only concern is that I want to make it last long because what's coming next I'm not hopeful about...
