Default Thinking about selling my Silver 2007 GT3 RS...

As the title says I am considering selling. The reason is I want to get into a dedicated track car that I can push harder without fear of expensive damage or devaluing should I push too hard. I also want more safety devices and something I can eventually club race. Am I thinking clearly or should I hang on to my RS?

This is my car:
http://www.gt3rsregistry.com/2007GT3RS/vin/3134.htm

Currently at 16.5k miles. I am the 2nd owner. I have less than 500 track miles on it(427 to be exact).

Factory options:
PCCB (rotors and pads replaced with brand new PFC slotted front, Turbo rear rotors with PFC08 pads)
Navigation
Xenons
Porsche OEM roll bar painted orange
Floor mats

Mods/upgrades:
Clear bra on entire front end and mirrors
Cargraphic screens in the front bumper
Carbon fiber dive planes and gurney lip
Guard 40/60 rebuilt factory LSD (LSD & transmission fluid March 2013)
Water + water wetter replaced antifreeze(March 2013)
new OEM spark plugs and air filter
new OEM rear track rods with tarrett toe links and locking plate kit
Rennline wheel studs
Speigler stainless steel brake lines with SRF fluid (lines & new fluid March 2013)
PMNA caliper studs on all calipers
997.2 rear brake ducts
Headlight washer components/hoses deleted
Side decals have been removed
Track aligned and corner balanced
Have all keys and manuals, no window sticker but I do have the CoA from Porsche.

Has paint chips on the typical wide body area as the previous owner never put clear film there. As well as a paint chip in the bumper and rear fender that have been filled in with touch up paint. 1 OEM wheel has a paint chip on it.

Mechanicals are perfect and would pass a PPI without issue. Tires are PS2 and have nearly full tread(90%+)
Currently the stock seats are out of the car(CGT buckets currently in use) but would be swapped back. The seats have very low wear/miles on them.

Jenner,

If I were you, I will definitely hold onto it. At 90K, I don't think it will depreciate at all from now on.

Just switch it to daily use, and maybe sell it in a few years to make some money. The right buyer in the future will pay more for your very unique RS. If I still have garage space, then I would love to add your car to my collection. Good luck.

Jenner, You're spot on ... a lot of times tracking a 100K car gets old, unless you have deep pockets, and you don't want to destroy the car either. Car will sell quickly
What car are you planning ?

Good luck with the new journey !

car is well set up.

If you can afford to hang on to it and buy a track car you would be doing great. It would be a shame to let go of this RS. They wont be building them like this anymore.

I know what you are saying about fear of hurting the RS and associated expenses. I am in the same boat.

Pick up a used Cayman as a track car. In some cases you can find them used already set up and with the 3.8L conversion. Lotsa stuff out there for them. Roll cages etc. A simple PDK 3.8L stripper is fast as hell.

But alas, try to hang onto the RS for dear life. I know i am.

Thanks guys, keep the opinions/suggestions coming.

I am seriously 50-50 on this. When I bought this car (my 5th Porsche so far) I felt this was the ONE for the rest of my life and it still could be.

The problem is, if I'm not tracking it, I doesn't really have a "purpose" other than being what it is(last of a era, possibly last of this type of car ever..). That is awesome in it's own right, and out of all the awesome cars I have owned this one will probably sit next to my 993TT as one of the great cars I never should have sold(along with an E39 M5, and B7 RS4). So I can see myself regretting it already. But the problem is that I love driving (at the track) more than I do on the street or collecting. I am a driver. Not into cars & coffee or collecting(yet) or a back roads weekend warrior.

I don't have a plan Eddie. Open to advice to all you vets who have "been there done that." My thoughts lie with a used track car that I don't care if I damage the paint if I go off track. Cheaper brakes, tires etc would be a bonus too! Thinking an older 911, but not too old as I don't care for the older gear boxes. Will probably browse the market for a while and if I find an older track prepared 911/Cayman/Boxster that fits the budget and other requirements I'll go with that. First and foremost it has to be a Porsche. I have no interest in any other make.

Jenner, that exactly what I did. Old, but not too old ... maybe a bit slower for now, but a lot of fun and rewarding to drive. Cheap consumables with a bullet proof engine, but still a COOL car as a RSA. Just wish I did it before.
It must do some races / enduros, and be fast enough on Des to hang with the big boys.

I too like to drive my cars and feel if in 10 years I want to get back into my old '07 GT3, I will find another. Not sure I care if I have to pay a premium to get it back. Just have fun, drive what you like, there are plenty of cars for sale at the right price. While everyone says 993 C4S's (for example) are rare and collectible, there are so many for sale all the time it is a joke!

Also, funny that I bought my 997 GT3 from John Farrell at Pepe Porsche as well!

I'd keep it. I think your price is fair, you could probably ask a tick more and end up at 90k sold.

OP: you sold the 993TT?!

Now that you have such a great RS example in your garage, covet it.
Disposable track cars will come and go, but it is always nice to have something nice in the garage. Your RS is that car. Dont let it go the way your 993 did.

One only needs to look at Leh Keen who still keeps a 997.1RS in his garage.

You could use a solid track day car however.
Take a look at this as it would look great next to your RS
