I am seriously 50-50 on this. When I bought this car (my 5th Porsche so far) I felt this was the ONE for the rest of my life and it still could be.

The problem is, if I'm not tracking it, I doesn't really have a "purpose" other than being what it is(last of a era, possibly last of this type of car ever..). That is awesome in it's own right, and out of all the awesome cars I have owned this one will probably sit next to my 993TT as one of the great cars I never should have sold(along with an E39 M5, and B7 RS4). So I can see myself regretting it already. But the problem is that I love driving (at the track) more than I do on the street or collecting. I am a driver. Not into cars & coffee or collecting(yet) or a back roads weekend warrior.

I don't have a plan Eddie. Open to advice to all you vets who have "been there done that." My thoughts lie with a used track car that I don't care if I damage the paint if I go off track. Cheaper brakes, tires etc would be a bonus too! Thinking an older 911, but not too old as I don't care for the older gear boxes. Will probably browse the market for a while and if I find an older track prepared 911/Cayman/Boxster that fits the budget and other requirements I'll go with that. First and foremost it has to be a Porsche. I have no interest in any other make.
You just made your decision. At that price for that car you are crazy if you sell it without having to. Throwing away a Track prepped Cayman is also not cheap when you hit the wall. There are more costs then brake pads to this hobby. Race cars needs to be raced and towed to the track = $$$.

BSRs are fun but you better invest into properly built racing grade motor or start stockpiling stock ones.

well, some people tend to get pissed when they blow motors in a race as it all sums up on top of engine cost - cost of travel, lodging, cost of a lost weekend, etc.

but I hear you. it is not near the cost of a RS car running costs. still in my opinion good S54 based E46 or E36 car is preferable to BSR, well, I guess it depends on a personal preference.

PS. 6 spare motors for 2 BSRs sounds like a correct ratio. it`s cool to have a warehouse.

1) Don't sell it. Silver/Orange is a killer combo.

2) If you do, can I have first dibs on the CGT buckets?

Jenner,

Must be in our Silver/Orange blood. I have the same car you have, in 2010 I was going to dedicate it to track duty but I opted for an '02 Cup and kept the RS. At a 'buy in' not much more than the RS mods would've cost I know I made the right decision and I would've never pushed my limits with the RS as I do the used Cup for reasons you stated. Good luck with your decision but I would hate to hear your regret of selling the RS.

Beautiful car. I just went the other way. Bought a dual purpose GT3 as I'm tired of pulling a trailer with track car.
BTW I'm selling it. its a very modified E36 M3 with cage new S54 motor with dry sump (CM in BMWCCA)spares and trailer very cheap also an hour for LRP

Have you decided what you're going to do with your RS? I'm on the hunt for the right car...

I'm planning to list it for sale in a months or two. Gathering data for accurate pricing and need to reinstall the factory seats, battery and exhaust so I can take pictures and have it ready to go for the buyer before listing it for sale. Would prep it for sale faster if there were interested buyers...
