3.8 RS at all time high $230,000!!
I know there is a sucker born everyday, but damn. Is it just me or did they remove the grille screens to install the radar detector? This car was just for sale for 170 a month ago.
EDIT: They also have a black .1 RS with 11k on it listed for $130..

Just met a guy at Infineon today who had bought a stock black 2011 GT3 (NB non-RS) at 6000 miles for 116 large ones at a private sales (!!!) two days ago.... Boy, if this keeps going at this rate I might sell mine for more than I paid for...And then I can buy this new "monster" GT3 with the "desirable" PDK

I love that color, it's 1 of 1.
Somewhere there maybe be someone who cares less about 230K in his bank account than not owning the car.
230K is easily replaced by many, this car can't be replaced.
It's nuts to me, but in a world with 200-400k, off the shelf boring valet mobiles this one is special and awesome to the right buyer and eventually will appreciate as all PTS RS will.

Imo for most gen 2 GT3's the market is $102-$112K or so. The '10's go for less than the '11's, higher mileage go for less of course but you take a look at all of the ads their pricing are for the most part above $112K and they've been for sale for months. The ones that sell are below this.
I see some talk here once in a while that someone paid below $100K but a car that goes for that price has miles, may be heavily tracked, a couple owners and maybe a story. A guy who has interest in a car like that would also be interested in a gen I for much less. Potential owners who will drop 100 large aren't interested in these for the most part.

as a new guy to the forum, I may be asking questions which everyone already knows answers to.. but.
-how much does tracking a car reduce it's value? dealer made it seem like the minute they find track marbles in wheel wells, that there is no CPO, no extended warranty available, and prices are much lower. Aren't most people tracking these cars?
I'm wondering as I'm on the list for a 991 gt3, and dealer suggested I lease it so if I track it i don't worry about the depreciation as much. However, I think if I keep this for 1-2 years and sell with less than 10k miles that used price won't be much off of MSRP... so financing/purchasing would make much more sense.
-also interesting to see how options affect resale... better to buy a bare care with just an axle lift system, or get full leather and other stuff to make it pretty?
any advice?... beautiful car in this thread though... wow!

You can't take the price of a 997.2 GT3 RS in consideration when buying a 991 GT3. It will sink and you WILL loose money, no the car won't be sold to close to MSRP 2 years later.
The 997.2 GT3RS is the last of the manual cars, and the price most likely will stay where it is or will go up in the long run. Regular GT3s are made in higher production numbers therefore less exclusive so the price doesn't hold as well as the RS.
Tracking a car the right way and with the correct maintenance won't depreciate the car much. Most of the guys here track their cars, that's what they were made for.
CPO is not voided with track use, warranty is not voided with track use.
In this market right now, we see the highly optioned cars with less than 5K miles, selling for 140-145
Cars with 5-10K 135-140K no track miles
Cars with 10K-15K with track miles and in perfect condition are worth 125-130K
So not much difference there.
Only a few options add to the resale of the car.
-PCCB
-Paint to sample (correct colors)
Other than that, is just preference.
Porsche spec'ed the 991 GT3 focusing a new market, bringing new people to it, a lot of the guys here, that had / have 5-10-15 Porsches are not moving ''forward'' if you can call the 991 forward ... new people that before wouldn't buy a GT3 because the car was manual, now will be able to .... Now the more I see about it, the more I like the antiques and the lowly 997s...
991 will be faster, it's a beautiful car, it's newer, but I like the manual car, maybe would be nice to have a 991 GT3 or a Carrera S which are pretty much the same now to haul my dogs to the dog park, groceries, restaurants and as a only car try a few track days a year.
Hopefully one of the serious track guys will buy one, and drive it at Sebring session after session, over and over again, and see if it falls apart or not.
Always a good reason to post dog pics:
Of course this is just my opinion
