Mobil1 5W-50
Hello,
I'm thinking of using Mobil1 5W-50 on my next oil change-I just drove 1200 miles from Houston after a new oil change at the dealer(0W-40), car had 3450 miles, not much after break in.
I stayed overnight in New Orleans and from there to Miami it was 14 hrs driving, stopping only for gas and a longer 1hr break for dinner, so the car got to cool off a bit. Anyway, it might be too soon for an oil change but I like the idea of a 5W-50 for the South Florida temperatures. Otherwise, there are other oils in this viscosity, but I think I'll stick to Mobil1 5W-40 is easier to find, any advantages over 5W-50?
I read good things about Penrite from Austraaaaalia but I don't think there are distributors here in the US, and I think they only make 5W-40 and 5W-60
Motul is probably quite a bit more expensive in the US
And the other question is oil filter-
Is the Mann filter the original direct replacement?

Or Mahle?

Bosch and K&N are also available, and which filter comes from suncoast parts(Porsche box)?
Thanks for your input

Yeah I saw that link, and Amazon also has a special-plus Mobil has a $12 rebate on 5 or more quarts...
The other idea would be to spend way more money on Millers Oil which is recommended for street and track- but is it worth it...I'm not tracking my car-
My air-colled 2 stroke triple runs on castor bean oil by the way
I wonder if any four stroke performance oils use it as an additive-

No reason to go waste your time and money trying to find 5w50 Mobil 1. I tracked for years on 0w40 Mobil 1...zero issues.
I have been using Motul 5w40 for the last year because my neighbor and I find it in bulk on Amazon. Motul is a great oil as well.

I prefer 5w-50... More protection in the higher heat ranges when I'm thrashing the **** out of it on the track on 35oC days! 0w-40 offers benefits with sub zero starts ad fuel economy, two issues that don't concern me...

5W-50 for me. The 50 weight is much better here in the south and especially for the track than the 40 weight water. The 0 versus 5 is negligible as it doesn't get cold here.
I buy my 5W-50 from Petroliance locally.

Mobil 5W50 is a very good oil. Slightly higher zinc and phosphorus, nothing crazy. And Porsche approved.
