NAPA has Mobil 1 5w-50 on sale for $6.99/qt this month. Switching my car over to it after reading this thread.

Both my GT3 and Audi S3 oil changes coming up, will head to Napa soon. The S3 doesn't have 5W-50 in its specs list, so 5W-40 in that case-
I switched to 5W-50 for the GT3 as soon as I bought it after driving from the dealer in North Houston to Miami, it was an awesome trip...

I have 8 qts of Mobil 1 5w-50 free to anyone who wants to pick it up in Richmond, VA. I switched to LiquiMoly 10w-60 on the advice of a shop that builds these motors.

That’s a first. I’d take the 550 if I was local

Does LiquiMoly 10w-60 still have its Porsche A40 approval?

I’m actually doing the opposite. I have noticed on my last 2 Blackstone oil analysis report the viscosity below average with Liquid Molly. I will be switching to Mobil 1 5W50.

Castrol Edge 5W-50 is a strange one- not Porsche A40 approved, as a matter of fact their own data sheet shows no one approves it
https://msdspds.castrol.com/bpglis/F...20US%20PDS.pdf
But there is an article saying there's a Ford GT Supercar Oil
Ford Supercar, seems to be aimed at the UK market:
https://www.castrol.com/en_gb/united...html#tab_5w-50
Data:
https://msdspds.castrol.com/bpglis/F...PXE-AD5BK4.pdf
There is also a Motul 5W-50, hard to find in the US-
So I'll continue to use the Mobil 5W-50, also used and approved by AMG
And Mobil also makes an expensive 0W-50 Racing version, about $14/quart
But, high levels of zinc, could cause Cat issues-
The Napa sale used to have Mobil 5W-50 at $5.49, but "because inflation"...
For my Audi S3, 5W-50 is not an approved viscosity, so I got the Mobil 0-W40, which apparently got reformulated, I believe in 2022-
Valmart has it, 5 qt bottle at $24, so you can't beat that, about $5/qt-I did have to get the extra qt at. $7.98 because the S3 takes 6 pts, but still-
Getting filters is also a nightmare locally-dealers want about $25, Porsche and Audi-FCPEuro, Rockauto has them for under $10, Mahle or Mann. Napa has Mann listed, but I called and they're out of stock and they couldn't tell me when they would have it. 3-4 years ago Advance auto had the Mann filter for GT3, about $8, but no more, very bizarre- And you can get the serpentine belt for GT3s at Autozone, real German made Continental, latest version, for about $25 Probably because it is also used in Subaru and Nissan cars-
Then there's the issue with the little o-ring on the GT3 oil filter housing stem-better have it replaced, few remember this-

I noticed earlier today. I just ordered 20 quarts. I will be switching from Liguid Molly 5W40 to the Mobil one 5W50. On my last Blackstone lab report, the Liquid Molly viscosity was low with the oil having been used for only 1500 miles. I live in South Florida and noticed the viscosity low on the last 2 reports. I’m not impressed with Liquid Molly. Even the Mobil One 0W40 did better on previous oil reports.
