For no story, clean cars:
996GT3 has been stuck for years in the 45-55K range
997GT3.1 has been stuck for years in the 65-80K range
997GT3.1RS has been stuck for years in the 85-105K range
997GT3.2 had gone down to the low 90's and is there or up a bit
997GT3.2RS had gone down 110-125K range is now up to 125-145 range
997 4.0 the very few that have been sold went from initial hit to around low 200's to now about 230K and up.

I dont see much room for GT3's do go down much very soon...

ido not see seling price of 997 gt3 engine and transmission to go down.
that is what matters most in my opinion.
as of price of a whole car as a package - with track cars street car price is not very relevant.

look up track cars prices or most recent rs car with salvage title that went for $52k or so - that is what it`s worth. tub, suspension package and drivetrain. tub is static and doe snot change much, suspension can be very different and drivetrain is also static so no reasons to worry.

all those 3 are not nearly realistic price levels and they of course will go down a lot as soon as those who could not live without rs 4.0 will realize a more expensive RS car is about to emerge.

They have been stuck because there hasn't been a new model.

nope, 997.1 RS and GT3 cars are fitting really well and there are plenty of them rebuilt now for racing so market is saturated well and there are plenty of spares and parts, so, it is a static market.
new car will take 3-4 years now to get to same level as there are no modding for it yet, no field techs who are ready to deal with it, etc. plus no one tested yet street PDK in real races so it all will take some time to figure out what operational expenses will look like in 991 model, how it will behave, etc.
current 997.1 and 997.2 generations are built like tanks (after all well known required fixes) and that keeps them quite valuable.

One curious thing is why Cup car got Metzger, while GT3 didn't? This is the first time GT3 and Cup are completely different. Is it because GT3 engine is not proven on track? While abused at 8.5K RPM?

Who knows, but it will be interesting to see in the coming years how reliable the new car is, and how reliable is the PDK! I think overall 997 GT3 will be a lot cheaper to maintain and more of a track junkie tool, while 991 GT3 would be a fast car that can keep-up in hand of lesser capable drivers (ie me! ).

because no racing team is crazy enough to use new engine no one knows how to rebuild?
if they would have something better for racing than existing motor they would use it, obviously. figures out they do not have better one, yet.

for street cars they just put in whatever is cheaper to produce.

New GT3 w/ ELECTIC motor driven steering:
Ever drive a 2013 Boxster S with electric steering? Yech. Accuracy is there, the feel is not.

Engineer on the new Viper said :
"Driving a car with electric steering is like having sex with 3 condoms on" Hmm.

if 991 street car will cope well with 991 cup then it is a simple bolt on replacement issue. same as with 997 cars where any track car eventually makes its way into 'almost' cup car up to the owner`s budget limit.

Exactly.

Witness the values of the 996 GT3..........quite high, then low very 40s, now upper 50s or so.....

Their value went up yesterday.

4.0RS will continue to move up, this is the last real RS.

3.8RS is a 95% car of what the 4.0RS is, so $250k 4.0RS might push the 3.8RS into the $150k.

i do not see 993 cars selling for $250k. those were 'last real' ones.
most people do not spend $250k because they want speed. for speed there are cup cars and they are cheaper. it is vanity.
so it depends of how well vanity factor will stick to rs 4.0. i think most of it will evaporate after 991 RS 4.2 will come out for $300k. just saying.

Values don't get pushed up, they get pulled down. Let's just see what the 7.2 RS is trading for in a year...

(my guess is 115 for decent examples)

991 RS will probably have 500+ hp and sell for 160.
