Standard 4 Post rule of thumb..
Height of both cars combined +8" will allow the clearance... Also you need to reroute Garage to roll up wall to ceiling. This and a Crank driven opener will run ~ $1k + the lift.

Marine Blue. I have 9.5' ceilings in my garage and my 4 poster (Direct Lift) lift works great. With the car on the lift facing the garage door, you can still park a VW Jetta underneath. All I had to do is put a short Audi antena on the car. Same goes for my wifes JCW Mini.
When the door opens it goes right over the front fenders of the GT3 and stops at the windshield. You will not be able to stand up straight under the car (I am 6'2") but I prefer to work on a rolling stool. I have had the 4 post lift for 10 years and would never go back.

I already have trouble finding someone to permit and build me a car port, never mind one of these.
My garage is too small and low for lift plus I think I prefer to just drive in and out of a carport without moving a car from under a lift.
The beer fridge stays.
Old pictures, same garage.

I have already installed a Liftmaster Wall Mount and the tracks were changed so they go straight up.

Thanks for the feedback guys, comical and informative. Raising the roof of the garage is not an option, neither is widening it. Space at a storage facility is proving hard to find around here and not having the car accessible doesn't appeal to me. So going down still seems like my best option. Our garage floor is about 5-6 feet above the finished basement floor. So I'm hoping table water won't be a problem. Yes, digging a pit in the garage might be costly but its better than my other option (not buying more cars). So I'll call them tomorrow to find out more. Stay tuned...

This is a piece of cake. You could cut and dig the hole in one day. Form up the box and reinforce the side walls and floor with rebar. Pour the concrete. Drop the lift mechanism in with a forklift and your good to go. You will probably need 220 electrical to run the hydraulic pump and pneumatic air if the safety latches are air actuated. I say just go for it.
