Default '10 GT3 for a '12 (997.2) C4S

Thinking hard about trading in my '10 GT3 for a brand new heavily discounted a '12C4S (997.2)

The GT3 was my dream 911.... Stlil is..... but I am having a really hard time digesting the nutty prices for the new maintenance schedule after the recall

The C4S is no GT3, much different car, but it is a very nice ride...

What say you?

Ignore CL non sense and enjoy the car you love.
The c4s is a nice brunch car. You'll get bored.

Coming from a Carrera to a GT3, don't do it! The GT3 is so much more car!

I've owned both and tracked both... Still miss the .1 RS, still driving the .2 C4S.

If you do any track events keep the GT3.. If you need to drive in all weather conditions get the C4S for the office and dinner IMO.

Those maintenance requirements are for track miles and do not apply for normal street driving. The reality is that a large percentage of GT3 owners will not once need to do the maintenance...

Are you really thinking of selling b/c of the CL's? I mean come on, this is for track miles only and a tremendous number at that. Mine just came off and after many track miles they showed no wear (never run slicks). If you are doing 3-4 track events per year this is a non-issue.

Thanks guys... I've been dragging my tail on doing this trade...

Think that I'll stick with what I have.

Ya...

I just found out, was not clear to me before, as information dribbles out from the dealers that the maintenance intervals for usage are for "cumulative" track miles.

ya, a no brainer!

After owning a GT3, nothing else makes sense. I have kept my 996 C4 convertible for nice weather open top drives.

Sounds good.
Wait a few years and you can get the same C4S at very low price, while your GT3 will still maintain fairly good value and you will be too happy that you own a manual GT3.

And, 100% these, too!

This post is sooooo timely. Just got my car back from the recall today and I have to say I was considering the same thing. Thank God for Rennlist. Guess I'll keep my GT3
