Rick, tell what is involved to cool the PDK diff. Is there welding cooling tubes into the diff?

Both cars as referenced in the video are NOT equal weight. The 6-sp has all stock factory bodywork while the PDK car has an all carbon fibre front end and doors. In the video they said the Cup door weighs 3 lbs versus 50 lbs for the OEM original door. The PDK is at least a couple hundred lbs lighter.

Also take into account the price. The 6-sp car, which is a Cayman R with a 9A1 X51 engine and a factory G87 for $140K. Eek! With the race car carbon bits it goes up to $200K still with a street car PDK and a 9A1 engine. Since it is just a track car, why not just buy a used Cup car instead? I would like to see a straight up comparison of their 6-sp car with a 997.2 RS (new was about the same price) on the same spec tires then a straight up comparison of the PDK versus a real 997 Cup car on the same spec tires. Sorry, not really sold on this one.

As stated in the original post, both cars are equal weight...

The PDK car has some ballast for the test....

Try to enjoy the video and not tear it apart... It's a fair and honest comparison...

Great video.

I think it was your Cayman R I saw running at the VIR PCA DE late last year. Superb vehicles.

Really appreciate your sharing.

I got to see the R a lot. It was not only handling great but it was pulling like mad on the straights. I tried to point it by whenever it came up; hope I didn't hold your guys up too much!

Rick, I really enjoyed that. A great video with beautiful cars and a very interesting perspective from both you and Nick on the MT/PDK comparison. I've had PDK in an '09 Carrera S for 4 years and it has been terrific for autox and the street. Good luck to DeMan Motorsport.

Here is a link to cgomez private test on the 997 GT2 and 430 Scuderia at Monticello.

http://blog.axisofoversteer.com/2010...97-gt2-vs.html

Best laps were 2:32 for the GT2 and 2:31 for the Fiat. These 2 cars have more than 500Hp, and the Fiat is just 250 lbs heavier than the DeMan Motorsports Cayman.

R6 is a faster tire than the stock MPSC N-Spec, or the Pirelli Corsa System in the Fiat, but still these two $200k+ street cars are near the top performance for each brand (VW and Fiat).

The price reference explained by Rick includes the cost of the car, starting with an used 2009 Cayman S (9A1) the build is cheaper.

The Interseries cars as well as these DeMan little monsters have lower operating and maintenance costs than a factory GT3 Cup. Advantage: Cayman.

Awesome!

Nice vid Rick. I have grown to love my Cayman Interseries. Thanks, it's a lot of fun and the livery is great.
