Yeah, you guys are right. It's just that after more than a year of waiting, anticipation, and speculation since I placed a deposit, I want to see the damn car!

I bet you could get an allocation from Barrier, right outside Seattle if you don't mind buying out of state. Too many grey, wet days for GT3s to sell out up here, site unseen.

Very nice RS...You mentioned more for the street than track?

On the GT3 deposit: First in line just 2 weeks ago in Cleveland @ Beachwood

Good job- hope to see it at the track. On the RS, maybe a little track, but I will use the Cayman Interseries mostly.

The drivetrain is more less 996GT3 and I bought them used after after they were 3 years old.... Funny enough both of them had massive warranty replacements performed before i purchased them as they had "early" bugs in them....

Now, dont get me wrong. Being the first kid on the block in the new 991GT3 is nothing short of awesome and im sure it will run faster lap times over the 997GT3 on the track which is also bananas.

I just do not wish to be the R&D guy for the first year kinda like the 997.2 centerlock guys...

I also would hate to see the launch of the RS a year after i purchased a non RS....(if you are a RS kinda guy that is..)

You can order from any state. I've gotten the last three 911's, including a prized RS 3.8, from Fletcher Jones Porsche, Fremont. I put a deposit on a 991 GT3 last year and I'm not interested in "first kid on the block" field beta tester, but if I get one in the first few boats, that will be fine. That's not to say I'm more than luke warm on the car at present, but I'd rather be in the position of owning and driving one than declaring it "unworthy" from the curbside. I'd rather wait for the RS version, but as others have suggested that could be 2015 or later.

I'll call around on Monday then. I'd rather buy locally to establish relationship with a dealer. I had a chance to be 3rd in line in Toronto, but that would be pointless since I'm moving south of the border, and it's 20% cheaper there. I am not sure about holding off for an RS or second year of production because I'd probably buy a regular 991 to fill the void then and lose a ton on depreciation when I finally get a GT3.

My salesman offered me the option to be first on the list for either a 3 or an RS. I autox and will do 3 or 4 track days a year, but much of my driving is on the street, so Id prefer a car with less of a track bias. A GT3 is a better fit for me, and I will order it to my spec. Don't care if that means I'm not the first to have one. If the rumors of 470HP and overall performance that matches or exceeds the 4.0 are true, it should be adequate.

Maybe I've been lucky, but I've never had a major first year production issue with any of the Porsches I've owned. And there's always the warranty on a new car.

Realistically, after a new model and platform is launched... have we not come to appreciate, respect and love the new car???

The new 991 GT3 will be no different. I agree it's big, but go sit a 993..

Ill take delivery of a lower optioned version.. Maybe track it a little and enjoy on the street. Maybe even a PDK!!!

Get over it.. The manual is engaging but that's where it's going we need to accept it, they're faster and idiot proof.
