usually the booger sugar is more of a lambo thing, or a turbo cab thing, right?

hard to see how 4.0 prices dont come down to below msrp over the next 12 months... I imagine will always be a very desirable car but I would guess they are not over MSRP much longer..

Well it's been about 15 months since the 4.0 has been out and prices have not come down but actually inched up. Personally, I feel the car will hold value very well in the short term and in years to come become more valuable. There are plenty of purists out there like myself that feel the 997 GT3's and especially the 4.0 in such small numbers in the US are extremely special cars. The new ones will be faster on the track for those that the numbers are most important, but will not have the Mezger engine, hydraulic steering, and almost for sure now no manual. They may also be less engaging to drive, especially off the track. I am also not a fan of the rising center console on the GT3. So for me, having come from a 73 S, 996 turbo, 997.1 GT3, 997.2 RS, and now the 4.0 RS... I am not selling this thing.

the 2014 991RS will hurt the resale on 4.0L.

high profile customers who actually use their 4.0L will want 991RS if it is faster then 4.0L, thus ditching old 4.0L is major possibility. Why hold onto a slower car when getting passed on the track by newbie 991 owners?

Only collectors will moth ball their low mile garage queen 4.0L. (keep them next to their 964RS, 993RS and 996RS)

It will be 10 years from 4.0L production date until we learn of true resale demand on the 4.0L based on success or failures of 991.

In all, how did the 997 RSR fare on the world stage from start to finish? That sometimes plays on the values of generations. Afterall, everybody loves a winner

Can we consider the 997 generation a winner in the racing world in terms of championships?

I wonder if some of these people trying to sell 4.0's at ridiculous prices also work for COTA? The same sort of delusional mindset seems apparent...

high roller will want latest greatest, they WILL sell 40 and buy 991rs, as such 4.0 will soften a bit. but there are less than 150 - 160 40 in USA, it will remain somewhat difficult to find. further even at msrp 190, it's not cheap and if I were to buy an used 190k car, I'll be very picking on option, color etc etc, so it's going to be a d
slow and strange mkt. and to some extent cannot be described by simple demand supply curve.

73rs we all agree is "worthy"
if I say I have one that 100% OEM, matching number, never restored, 10,000 factory maintained 73RS. there will be collectors willing to pay 1/2-3/4 mil for it EASILY. but there re only a handful of those ppl.

not that 4.0 is same league as 73rs 964rs 993rs/r gt2, but my point is that 4.0 is a weird car. it's overpriced on day one. some suckers pay for them. and that's that. if u want to depict the money movement then do it with 38 RS. it's a value driven car. a cln car is about 10,000 below msrp (calif price of course) that's is essentially no depn in car world!

just drive it and b happy.
my is covered in mud now in rain. going to coffee and croissant with Mia soon. just like the monkey video driving his in wet ..... just wish I can drift it like he does

There will always be enough Porschephiles out there to maintain demand for 4.0. What that means for prices is anyone's guess but I suspect they'll be a wider range than say with the CGT because some will drive them hard, some will drive them, and some won't drive them at all. Likely a handful of garage queens with delivery miles will switch hands at upper end among collectors. Beyond that they should eventually drift below MSRP depending on miles and condition, and what happens with subsequent RS's.

The other factor will be options with less is more a high determinant of value. Show me a low/zero-option, black interior, no AC 4.0 RS and I'll buy it. Otherwise not interested.

They are gorgeous cars!! Saw this one at MSR Houston in March, owner was from Miami. Owner spoke of replacing it for a McLaren MP4 that he was picking up in May. Goes to others point above, somebody will always seek the latest and/or faster.
