Looks like a boring track Neway. Save your $$$ for disposables and be king of your local track : ). With that kinda attitude no need wasting my time. Did that with LS and I'm not regretting it one bit!!! Mike

If the event is cancelled, I just want my money back and I'll move on. I'm also going to seriously reconsider attending ANY races there, which is a shame because I live a few hours' drive from the track.

512.536.1500 COTA office for any questions you may have or to wish them a Merry Xmas.
I saw this on the COTA website, http://circuitoftheamericas.com/visit/track-rental , which would explain a lot - a lot more $ for them for all of their other services, not just DE rental. DE rental is about 34k/day, but they want 50k/day. Copied from their website --
Due to overwhelming demand, Circuit of the Americas has announced the initial 25 dates for the private track rental program!
By reserving one of these dates, you will be among the first in the world to drive the purpose-built Formula 1™ track following the inaugural 2012 Formula 1™ United States Grand Prix!
Your Circuit of The Americas Private Track Rental will include:
Exclusive use of the Circuit of The Americas full Grand Prix road racing course.
Pit access, designated paddock loft access, garage access and track access for an entire day.
Bring your cars and your friends – your group can include up to 24 people.
Fully staffed track, including track manager, driving instructor, timing system, corner workers and emergency workers.
Create your own experience: structured race program with practice, qualifying and race session (timed or open racing) or create your own agenda.
Catered lunch.
Transportation to track from Austin area hotel.
Concierge service for hotel, dinner reservations, spa and shopping.
The cost of private track rental is $50,000 for entire day.

Good Evening:
*
As many of you have heard or read, Circuit of The Americas has informed MVP Track Time, and other organizations, the track event we contracted for February 1-3, 2013 is not being honored.* This was a complete shock as we've already paid the entire rental fee (and yes the check was cashed by COTA) for February 1-3, 2013.*
I do not want add fuel to the fire until we have all the facts and have taken every possible action to secure the COTA date we have already paid (in full) for.* As soon as we have all the facts, I will send an e-mail to all attendees.
*
Thank you for your patience while we quickly work through this.

The info that I've heard 2nd hand (fwiw) is that COTA is very concerned about the need to maintain a pristine track so that they can continue to attract the major race organizers.
So far all the events at COTA are for the major players like Cadillac, Ferrari, etc.
Oh well..may be in 2014..

This sucks.... Hopefully MVP finds out one way or the other asap. There's another event going on at the same time I'll attend if this is a no go, but that's filling up fast. Myself and 3 other people actually rented a RV to get out to Austin so we'll wait impatiently to see if we need to cancel.
Shame as I know Mark put a ton of work into negotiating and organizing this fiasco.

Have they seen Sebring? Somehow they manage to do it, and that's probably the most poorly maintained track I've never been to.
