Sport Bucket and Tequipment Fitment

A while back, I purchased a Tequipment bar that I ultimately planned to use with a set of sport buckets. I had my shop install the bar while my stock sport seats were still in only to find I could not adjust my seat properly without hitting the bar or sitting nearly straight up (I'm 6', 235lbs). My question to those who've either had the combo or know the relative seat sizes, clearances: do the buckets have more clearance due to size and shape? I test fit my seating position in a friends RS and in my comfortable position, there was a ton of room behind me. Any info is appreciated.

hi chris indeed the tequipment bar was made for the sport buckets which do have additional clearance vs the sport back seats. The aftermarket analogue tequipment bars are usually made so that they fit the stock seats better.

I can't comment on the clearance with hi-backs, but I've used the stainless steel Techequipe first with Euro GT3 seats in my 996 Carrera and now with sport buckets in my GT3. With the Euro GT3 seats, there is more clearance. My seats could never contact the rollbar when it was in my 996. In the 997 GT3, I don't have any issues on the drivers side; but if a passenger moved their seat all the way back then they will rub the rollbar. The passenger side can rub the diagonal bar. Since the diagonal bar only runs down the to the lower end on the passenger side, there are no clearance issues on the drivers side.
One additional piece of advice, but new bolts before you install it. Usually at least one of the bolts gets mangled when installing them. They are not really a reuse item. Getting a new set of bolts will avoid any potential issues moving it to another car. Although dealers aren't allowed to import in the Techequipe bars anymore, they can still get the bolts and Porsche normally stocks them in the Atlanta parts warehouse.

Further question on the clearance side this time height, does anyone make a bracket to further lower the sport buckets?

+1. Would love another 1/2- 1 inch lower.
Thanks to those who have responded. My shop did new bolts the first time around and echoed what has been said here - to use new bolts each time just to be safe. Looking like all will fit. Woohoo.

Cantrell Motorsports has created mounts for the sport buckets that lower the seat reportedly 3/4". I've just used the factory seat mounts but I might go ahead and try them in the future. Here's the link for them;
