Wow! To progress from complete newb to dominating the PCA time trials in the span of two seasons is mighty impressive! Well played, sir!!! Hope to catch up with you at LS next week.

- sure looks like a cup airbox connected to a MAF
- didn't think this would work
- what was involved in doing this?

thank you all for the kind feedback - i don't know that doing well in one TT event is "dominating" but I felt very good that day, but I was only a few 10th's faster than others at the track - that day was amazing with multiple people posting sub 2:00 lap times…

I don't know how well I'll do at Laguna - that track and I have some history and I'm going to be on guard and leaving a few 10'ths on the table in order to remain safe - we'll see.

in either case what I really love about the hobby is the cars and the people - I've learned so much the past 3 years (some of it undesired lessons) but it's definitely fun.

Cup and RS airboxes are the same, expect for the MAF attachment. You can buy the whole assembly, or it can be done piecemeal - then the part numbers are the same for the box itself (plastic). The only other difference is the sticker (which is not on in the pics of the above installation).
This holds for the 3.8 engines.
Best, w

I particularly like the center-lock conversion

[QUOTE=daveo4porsche;10002434- the tweaks we've made are not out-ragious or extreme, and the performance of the vehicle now is beyond excellent. It makes it sooo much fun to go to a track day that I have to pinch myself to make sure it's not a dream.[/QUOTE]

Question: What tires were you on at Thunderhill when you did the time trial? I used the Yoko's you have in the pics there and they gripped like crazy. Also did you have the cup wing on for that as well?

Plan on attending some time trials next year, just curious what people are doing!

OMG I just saw this thread and nearly puked. To the OP IF you wanted a great track car why not just go get a new or good used cup car to track. You took a great road car and just destroyed it in my opinion. What you just sunk into what was a nice road car you could have had a really nice used cup car to track.

^ with all due respect, hav u owned a cup?
cup isn't the best trk car and there are PLENTY of reasons NOT to own a cup.
I'm on cup #2 and I still mod and strip my street cars.

Everything is bolt-on. It can go back to stock fairly quick.
Not like he did a full custom cage etc...

Cup car for this guy would require trailer, gearbox, spares etc. Too much too soon.

Modded street GT3 are great track hobby cars and great stepping stones to Cup cars.
Cups however, are a commitment.

Cup operating expenses are much, much higher than a converted street car. And, as the OP mentions, his car may need to be driven on the street from time to time.

To the OP, 2010+ center locks look like a smart move. How are they working to date?

By the way, Aqua Blue owners are probably the highest evolution of the species.

Well Ok then. I guess If your a true track junkie or full time instructor running a moded street car is the way to go. I just can't see taking a brand new GT3 and doing it up like that. I would look for a high mile used one for the track. Either way the end result is one great track toy.
