Default New car + tire advice

Hi everybody,

Just acquired a new to me GT3 997 MK1 with some nice options like CGT seats, pccb, full leather/alcantara sunroof delete, a custom center exhaust and BBS E88 wheels.

I need new tires but not sure what to buy and also what sizes?

I do yearly some track days and rarely drive the car when it’s bad weather.

What do you advice?

Many thanks!

First off you need to post pics...

I'd suggest Michelin Pilot Super Sports.

you want Michelin Pilot Super Sports.

stock sizes are best. 245 front 305 rears i believe.

Stock sizes are indeed 235 FR and 305 rear but is it adviced to go a bit wider?

In the front I have a 9J wheel and in the rear 12J.

Thanks

You said GT3 - not RS - therefore keep the rear at 305 - the 19" 315 Hoosier R6 is also fine for the track.

You also said front = 9J.
Since OE is 8.5, I'm assuming these are aftermarket.
Are these 19" or 18"? What is the front offset?, do you have the front struts rotated? Is the front of the car lowered?

If 19" and basically not lowered then the 245/35/19 Pilot Super Sport is a good tire - but if lowered the 235/35/19 is a better choice for the MK1 given the soft front spring rate.

If 18" then the answers will be different.

The OE tires are also a good choice for you given your warmer climate.

Hi,

The car is at standard (european) ride height.
Yes, the wheels are aftermarket 19" BBS, E88 I think they are called.
They look nice quality wheels.
Offset is front ET50 and rear ET68 with Michelin PS2 tires (235 + 305)

Thanks for the advice

If you're not dealing with weather, I'd recommend the Hankook RS3 in stock sizes. Amazing grip and relatively civil ride. I've done a long road trip and a couple of track days with them and they've barely worn. I've read here and heard from others who have tried the Super Sports that they tend to wear their outer edges on track a little prematurely when tracked.
